★★★☆☆ Nice people. Good food. A bit expensive though. We ate 2 main courses + two sides + soft drinks for 600 baht. We are used to eating street food for 100 baht here in bangkok.
A lot of other halal places nearby, but not restaurants. Posted on August 1, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ I don't get it, is this some kind of joke? How is this place the top rated halal restaurant for all of Bangkok on zabihah.com? I went here today with my mom & dad and we were the only three people in the restaurant (the first indication of it being not so special). First of all, the waitress spoke zero English. She only speaks Thai. She couldn't even understand when I asked for a glass of water. Instead she brought me a Pepsi and an iced tea. Their 'Thai iced tea' was pretty good but I didn't even order it (and had to pay for it). There's nothing special about the food either. It's just standard Chinese takeout/Thai food. All you people who gave this place 5/5 are really misguiding those of us who rely on zabihah.com to track down the BEST HALAL PLACES to eat at.
p.s. the bathroom is disgusting. Posted on February 4, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Ordered green curry, seafood tom yam, calamari, deep fried seabass in 3 flavour sauce, omelette and 2 plates of rice. Excellent taste. Cost us SGD40+. Posted on September 14, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Average place. Yes- clean but I prefer other places. With `over friendly' host, it was like pleading us to come again to eat there. It was not easy to find the place. Quite pricy too. Posted on June 5, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I have been there many times - and never found any hair. :P Very good food - with authentic Thai dishes for those desiring real Thai food. Service is usually fast, good, and friendly. Occasionally, I observe differences in cooks there - but the food is consistently good. BTW, at this writing, the google map here is INCORRECT. The location is very convenient - one BTS stop from Siam station. Rachathewi Station (first stop from Siam station, going toward Mo Chit). Exit toward Thanon Phetchaburi (use exit on left side) - - you'll go down stairs by 7-11. Cross the intersection straight - turn left and go down about 3 mins walk and it will be right there. (Same directions more or less from Asia Hotel as highlighted in another review below). Posted on December 15, 2009 |

★★★★☆ It just tasted like home cooked food. Service was excellent. The place is clean. We love the kangkong dish and tom yam soup. Thai pple really like their food spicy. A must try when u in bangkok. Posted on December 23, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ went in after Juma prayer today, Ordered Spicy Chicken Fried Rice, and Chicken Salad, with Pineapple juice, took about 15 minutes before i was served the Pineapple Juice and the Chicken Fried Rice, even before i could start eating, i found hair in the food!! looked like chest hair or pubic, so disgusting!
cutting story short, after i was done with this rice, that is when they decided to bring EGG salad instead of my Chicken Salad, the salad was not the freshest.
the only thing good was the pineapple juice!
i MAY give them a second chance ONLY because so many people have recommended this place, other wise i dont think they were worth it! Posted on October 17, 2008 |

★★★★★ After reading all the reviews here, i knew I had to chip in a thing or two.The critical info that need to be said in order to locate this Mak Yah restaurant is Asia Hotel. It is very near to Asia Hotel.
I went to Bangkok last year in April, and found out about the restaurant from Zabihah.Went twice, for dinner and lunch!Anyway, if you're in Bangkok, you definitely must try this place. And noo, I don't work there by the way.
If you're staying in Asia hotel, just turn left once you exit the hotel and walk straight down the lane. You will see a 7 Eleven on your left and a major road.Cross the road and turn left, walk straight while looking on your right. You can never miss the place.
It will be difficult if you travel by cab as the drivers will act blur while the meter is running.Come'on, all these years, so many people tried to locate by cab and the local drivers still don't know of this hang-out?!?!
Overall, the staff are very friendly. As for those who said it's quite expensive, well, I'd say the food justified the price you're paying.I mean, the place is nice and clean.Service is good. And if you can't take spicy food, you can inform the staff that you would like to have the level of spicyness tone down. That's what I experienced.I had the Tom Yam and boy, was it hot!The staff saw me and my friends fuming and sweating and guess what, they came to our table with wet towels! How sweet...
Anyway, i'll wrap up this review by saying if you still have doubts, forget about your doubts and just head down there, give it a try.Don't forget to order their Ice Tea! Posted on September 5, 2008 |

NR We were in Bangkok 15-18 May, after checking in to our hotel in Silom, we took a cab to Mak Yah Restaurant and we had Tom Yam Seafood, Seabass Tiga Rasa, Kangkong, Green Curry and rounded up our meal with a nice cup of coffee. The ambience, service and the food made us return to have our meals daily at the restaurant. The owner Anuwar and his wife Nadia were very friendly, helpful and informative. Will definitely be going back to the restaurant when we next visit Bangkok. Very reasonably priced.I fully agree the teh tarik was very nice. Btw Anuwar speaks fluent German. Posted on June 4, 2008 |

★★★★☆ I would recommend this restaurant to travellers. The food is nice but spicy and hot. You should try the tom yam, its heavenly. The price was quiet reasonable with friendly waiters/waitress. Not suitable for small children though. Our children were having a hard time with the food since its too hot for them. We ordered scrabble eggs in the end but even the eggs were hot (mixed with black pepper)! But wen asked to tone down the spices the next time we were there. A big plus & applause to the restaurant - we were staying in First Hotel but not sure where the restaurant was so the hotel called them and they sent someone to fetch us up from the hotel. ★★★★★ We took a cab there from our hotel at siam square, as we were quite lost at first...
However, mak yah restaurant is quite accessible as it is just minutes away from the BTS Ratchathewi Station..which is just 1 stop away from Siam station..food served is excellent as it is served piping hot and attractive presentation..for instance the tom yum soup is served in a claypot with burner...n we tried the "ikan siakap 3 rasa"..battered calamari, prawn cutlets, kailan ikan asin and the ice lemon tea is home made with the calamansi lime juice...yummy!! and it is at affordable price....trust me!! and of course the restaurant is very clean yeah.. ★★★★★ The place is near the BTS station Ratchathewi, just get of the station and turn left into Petchaburi Road. If you are from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei or Indonesia, it is easy to communicate, just speak Bahasa Melayu. They serve excellent Malay food here. The place is very clean. Posted on May 23, 2006 |

★★★★★ visited the restaurant last weekend. not easy to find. here is additional info on how to reach there. it is near Masjid Darulaman, along the Petchburi road beside Soi 7. remember these details. bts stop at ratchadewi. ask the control station officer on where to exit. less than 10 mins walk. food is excellent. definitely a must try! ★★★★★ We found this restaurant with much difficulty... because road signs are bad, and taxi drivers do not speak English, its really just a road down Pratunam, near Asia Hotel but really there is not landmark but the address... Our eyes were peeled close to see the numbers, but all the hardship was easily replaced by the quaint restaurant that was cosy and serves delicious f00f for cheaps,we had 7 dishes and all for 600bath, for 3 of us including drinks... yummy, enough for me to return to Bangkok Posted on November 20, 2005 |
