★★★★☆ the food here was very good, with some different choices from the standard north african fare. in addition, the grand mosque is an experience itself, clean restrooms and a shop/courtyard makes it a good visit. ★☆☆☆☆ We visited the Grand Mosque Paris next door, and then stopped by this restaurant for lunch mainly because it was halal. It was very crowded, mostly with non-Muslim French people and other tourists. The waiters are a motley mix of Indian, Bengali and Moroccan-French, and they were very hard to get hold off. None of them ever smiled or greeted us the whole time we were at the restaurant. I observed that they appeared to care more to serve the white folks more than to address us, Muslim-looking folks. When we finally got a table, ordered and got the food - two meat tagines and a vegetable couscous - we were surprised. The portions were enormous! We packed away one tagine (and later gave it to a Muslim Moroccan beggar woman outside the restaurant). The food we ate was, at best, average. The lamb dish was not at all seasoned well, and smelt bad. I have had way better (and more authentic) Moroccan food elsewhere. The mint tea and dessert was better, and saved the day. Because our mother wanted to visit a nearby Islamic bookstore, we ended up going to this same restaurant a few days later for lunch. Bad move! We asked for a table, and the Indian waiter said someone would seat us. But no one did. So we went into the inner room, where there were more seating. Another waiter (Moroccan) finally came to take our order. Knowing how large the portion sizes were, we decided to order and share one dish, along with several side dishes - it would be more than enough for three persons. This waiter had the audacity to tell us (we speak french btw) that it was not enough for three people. He then showed his displeasure and left. Imagine that! We had no idea if he took the order, or not. Finally, we asked another waiter (a Bengali) whether our order was in. It was NOT. We had to order again. The Moroccan salad was the best item of what we ordered at the restaurant that day - but how hard can it be to mess a salad up. The couscous was same as the previous occasion - bland and nothing spectacular. I would never return to this place again because of the terrible service and the bland food. There is a tea salon just outside the restaurant (probably run by the same restaurant) - if anyone wants to have mint tea and dessert, just do it there and avoid going to the restaurant. The restaurant food is bad, and so is their service. It is not a cheap place, so I find it surprising that it is so bad. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. There are so many other halal restaurants in Paris that deserve your money and visit than this place. Posted on March 21, 2012

★★★★☆ Beautiful mosque with a very nicely arabic style decor cafe/restaurant. Great place to have some sweets, tea or smoke some shisha on the outdoor patio. Food on the other hand was average but big portions. It's more of a self seat type place, just walk in to seat yourself and then try and catch a waiter for the rest. ★★★☆☆ Salam, Brought 4 friends to have dinner here. Quite pricey place and very busy. So we were given a small table to share for 5 people. There is only 1 English menu and the rest were in French. So we had to wait for other customers to finish. My friends tried the Couscous Chicken, Tagine Chicken, Roasted Chicken, Lamb Kebab, Roasted Lamb. The food are just average. Probably, we haven't acquired the taste for North African food yet. The waiters had to be called several times. Only 1 person speaks English, the Bengali guy. The rest speaks Arabic or French. ★★★☆☆ I went over a year ago and I found the surroundings to be very comfortable and nice. One of the waiters was a perv and made gestures to some of the female customers behind their backs. ★★★★☆ Its Moroccan not Indian but the dishes they had were excellent particulary the Tagine dishes. Lamb with aubergine wonderful, lamb with olives and lime nice and lamb kefta excellent. Impressive seating area. Staff doesnt speak English so I tried speaking little French and punjabi - eventually got through. Its not cheap but its not that expensive either. Must go. Location is right next to the Paris masjid which is a piece of art itself. By the way restaurant was full of foreigners. Posted on September 3, 2008

★★★★★ I visited Paris from the US early January 2006. This restaurant is located in a historic mosque in Paris- easy to get to via cab. The ambience was excellent- with a sheesha/cafe in the front and a restaurant in the back. The lamb tagine and lamb couscous were tender and the service was excellent.
