★★★★★ I loved the Chicken Beriyani. Worth the price. Definitely am going again and again to this restaurant. Posted on May 21, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ The food was better then the last time I was there a few years ago. The price is a bit above average, the naan is huge and the plain rice for $3.99 is pricey. Prices is higher in Ottawa compared to Montreal over all. Posted on January 2, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ Revising my review. Absolutely ridiculous price for the amount of food and quality of food which I would give 4 stars. But two adults who don't eat more than average, in fact maybe less than average it was 60$ for 2 curries, pretty badly cooked rice, two small lassi and 1 water. I will leave my previous comment that it is the only Indian restaurant that I know of that does not serve alcohol in Ottawa. The food typically not Indian spicy but catered to a mild palette. Butter chicken is quite sweet. The lamb biryani was good it's a bit spicy, soft lamb no tough pieces. Lamb curry which was pretty good, all soft lamb pieces. The mango lassi's are small, they are pretty good but the price is high considering they are so small. Also the mango juice is very small. The size of the place is quite small as well. We saw a worker come in wearing hijab and begin working without it! We will not go again. Posted on July 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ We visited this restaurant for Iftar in Ramadan. It was one of the best experiences we had with a Halal food restaurant. The restaurant has a casual decoration and it is clean and neat located in downtown Ottawa. The food was tasty and the chef/owner was very friendly accommodating our special requests. Prices were quite reasonable. Highly recommended. Posted on September 3, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ food was really not good, chicken biryani was full with rose water and chicken tikka which I ordered
was not really the tikka, it was pieces cut from some light masala chicken with one side of tikka pieces showing cut surface..... Posted on August 8, 2008 |

★★★★★ One of the most unique Indian restaurants in Ottawa. If you're tired of the usual fare, try Basmati, you will not be disappointed.
The decor is quite nice, however, the atmosphere is casual. The prices are very reasonable, the owner/chef is friendly and more than willing to customize the food as per your taste.
We tried Mango Lassi, Chicken Samosa, Desi Poutine, Pakura, Chicken Vindaloo, fresh tandoor baked naan bread, chicken Tikka wrap and sweet samosa.
Mango lassi is alright, however, a bit too sweet and not sour enough for our taste.
The Desi Poutine was surprisingly good and sumptuous. The chicken Samosa was alright.
Didn't like the Pakura, it was just big peices of deep-fried lightly battered cauliflower.
The Chicken-tikka wrap was excellent, a generous amount of boneless tandoori chicken (white meat) wrapped in a fresh tandoori naan... highly recommended.
The Chicken vindaloo was alright, however, in our opinion it was quite mild and being vindaloo it can really use more hot chilli-pepper... however, overall it tasted pretty good, the chicken was boneless and thoroughly cooked (unlike some other restaurants in town that don't care about properly cooking meats).
The freshly baked tandoori naan was heavenly, the back of the naan was not burned (which is a common problem with tandoors in the city), it was properly cooked and served to us fresh from the tandoor.
The sweet samosa was a unique thing, and was alright.
Overall, a very good restaurant, they serve all halal meat, and best of all no alcohol!... we'll definitely go back, there are a lot of things on the menu that we'd love to try, especially the tandoori pizza :) Posted on February 15, 2008 |
