230 Rue Saint Paul Ouest, Montréal, QC H2Y 1Z9
Step into Restaurant Gandhi and the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal give way to the fragrant spices and the aromatic flavours of the Asian subcontinent. Traditional Indian music plays as you dine, providing a gentle serenade to accompany your meal. Unlike most indian restaurants, you will feel like you?re dining al fresco: soft light, bistro-style tables with crisp white lines, and the yellow walls with their window-like cubby holes recall a sunset over the Ganges half a world away. Gandhi engages all five senses to create a memorable dining experience. Open Weekdays 12pm-10:30pm; Weekends 5:30pm-10:30pm Added on October 13, 2004 and last updated 8 years ago

★★★☆☆ Our party of four adults and one baby came in on a Saturday evening without a reservation, and we were seated immediately. The waiters were very attentive (we were especially impressed with the hot towel service after the meal!), and the ambiance was nice. According to our waiter, all the meat is halal except for the duck. We ordered samosas, poori, tandoori shrimp, and chicken tikka rejalla. Our waiter told us that the chicken dish did not come with rice, so we ordered some but never received it (although we did receive a garlic naan that we didn't order, so I guess it made up for the missing rice?) The food itself was fine, albeit somewhat unimpressive (our local Indian takeout restaurant has food that was just as good, if not better, than this place). We all agreed that the prices were too expensive given the quality and portion sizes of the dishes. For this reason, we likely won't be back the next time we're in Montreal. ★★☆☆☆ Do not believe staff food is not halal Posted on June 18, 2011 |
We will look into this - if you have evidence of your claim, please send it to us |

★★★★☆ A cozy place to dine in old Montreal. The dishes were good, but nothing that will blow you away. It isn't your typical desi place... you're really dining there for the ambiance. And to add to the first reviewer's comment on the spiciness of the food... they usually ask you if you want it spicy. But they probably assumed I was Asian already because the tikka masala was flaming hot! About the Halal Authenticity, please verify for yourselves. The last time we ate there was a while back and we got reassurance from the waiter. Posted on May 8, 2010 |
