★★★★★ Very pricey, very good steak. Call in advance obviously. I wouldn't go more than once a year. Posted on December 9, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Just had their NY steak - a couple comments:
1. Very Friendly staff and manager
2. Steak - I ordered medium well, however, it turned to be medium rare, luckily I noticed that before I even ate it; I asked to have it re-done medium-well, however, I think they brought it closer to a well done with the same piece of meat.
3. Would I eat here again, not sure as the meat is a very thick cut and it gets very dry after eating approximately a 15 ounce meat! Posted on November 12, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ Food was great...But the atmosphere wasn't...I didn't feel comfortable..There were some people drinking next to us and they were very vulgar...It;s worst when you have your child with you..
If you can handle the atmosphere...The steaks of course were great...
Sorry I won't return unless it was a quiet night. Posted on August 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ I read the reviews of this restaurant and was very excited. We called and they had the steak ready for that evening. They do send you a halal request form that needs to be filled and sent out, along with your credit card number, so you are paying up front.
Let me say this simply and clearly--this steak is sublime. I have had steak all around the world, and this was just outstanding. Other posters are not exaggerating when they say that there is no comparison. This is the first steak that I have ever had where I did not need to add any sauce.
It is definitely pricey at $50 per steak, and you are limited to just the NY Strip, but it doesn't matter. We did try some side dishes--the calamari, the steak fries, and sauteed mushrooms. They were all OK, but certainly not worth all of the money. I would recommend getting just the steak. I also agree with having it cooked no more than medium well done--you retain the flavor that way. ★★★★★ We called in at last minute to see if they had Halal steak, and they did! Saved Valentines Day! Food is expensive, but worthwhile. Service was good. Posted on May 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ The steak here is incomparable to any of the halal joints, you pay the $$$ for a reason, but when that first bite goes in you clearly know what you have paid for.
Defiantly worth visiting once to know what a real steak should taste like. Make sure to pre-order halal and do not go anything over medium well at max. Posted on May 2, 2011 |

★★★★★ In order to eat halal at Ruth's Chris, you must phone them at least two days in advance to special order the meat. They will fax you a halal order form and charge your card at the time you make your reservation. There is only one meat option when you order halal - the New York Strip for $50. If you opt for the steak, let me warn you. Don't even think about asking for anything more cooked than a "Medium". Medium Well and Well Done will lay waste to the $50 cut of beef you just ordered for that special occasion. Medium or Medium Rare is the way to go.
Service is excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable and went out of his way to take care of us. He was aware that we ordered Halal right as we sat down and guided us through the menu to help us make our order.
For our appetizer, we ordered the Escargot and Calamari. Both came in massive portions that can easily be shared by 3 or 4 people - not bad for $8 per dish. The Escargot was delicious, but it paled in comparison to the calamari. I normally HATE seafood. Their calamari was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Battered and fried to golden perfection and coated with this sweet red pepper sauce, served with lemon on the side. Unbelievable. Kudos to the chef for making a seafood dish that I was actually able to enjoy.
It's an a la carte menu, so you have to order the sides separately. Nothing is free here, but everything is great. We had the sweet potato casserole and steak fries. The Sweet Potato dish was excellent, but better suited as a dessert. The Steak Fries were great, but a bit pricey considering the quantity. Next time, We'll probably go for veggies and mashed potatoes.
Only one word for the steak. Glorious. I've been to Affy's, and I know how to make a good steak at home as well. They pale in comparison. This is easily the finest steak I have ever had - halal or otherwise. Braised with butter and what I think was a rosemary rub. Absolutely divine. You can tell that the chefs went out of their way to ensure that you can focus your taste buds on the taste and texture of the beef. I can't say a single bad thing about the steak. The quantity was way more than any of us could eat and all i can think of now is when I can go back for more.
As I mentioned already, the servings are huge and there were a lot of leftovers. My suggestion for the leftover beef - slice it up into thin strips, carmelize some onions and heat the meat up on the pan. Melt up some provolone and treat yourself to one of the best Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches you will ever eat.
Will I go back again? I've already started saving for the next special occasion. Posted on January 24, 2010 |
