NR This restaurant is not halal,
I don’t know why Zabihah is allowing any restaurant to be halal while they are selling liquor / alcohol 🍺? Any restaurant which has drinking material as Muslims are not allowed so how would it be halal ? When these type of restaurant gets halal certificate even they are dealing with non halal things how could you trust them ? They are not trustworthy restaurant if they can’t obey Islamic rules properly .... selling halal chicken but keeping any alcoholic drinking material it’s absolutely consider as a non halal restaurant, I request Zabihah app responsible please remove immediately all alcoholic restaurant from your list before I as a lawyer take a serious action.
Thank you Posted on January 23, 2019 |
We list our criteria for listing on Zabihah very clearly in our FAQ. Some restaurants have only a few halal options and/or sell alcohol, and others do not. We list this information clearly for our readers to review and make their own decisions to patronize or not. You can filter out restaurants that have non-halal options or serve alcohol in your preferences if you wish. |

★★★☆☆ Went here for dinner recently and it was packed (Friday night). Ordered the Beef Chowmein (OK), the Sweet & Sour Chicken (OK) and the Spicy Garlic Fish (Good) with Chicken Corn Soup (Good) and Mango Lassi (good). Was disappointed in the Sweet & Sour Chicken as it didnt taste as sweet as I'm use to (almost non-sweet) and the Chowmein was also not very flavorful and kinda bland. Service was fast, but had to wait at least 15 - 20 minutes for a table (for two). Have to come back again to try some of their other menu items. Posted on September 13, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I went with family and had reservations. It was a very busy night and our table was not reserved. The man, who I think was the owner, was not nice at all and said it was our choice and we could leave if we wanted to. I obviously took my guests to another Chinese restaurant in the area and the food was just as good. Lastly, I don't think we should eat at a restaurant that serves alcohol and claim to be a halal Chinese restaurant. Just my point of view. Definitely no going back and they lost a very good customer. ★★★★★ Hands down the best Hakka in Ontario! No one can touch the freshness!
Top choices:
Coriander chicken
Crispy Beef
Lemon Chicken
Mongolian beef
Lollipop Chicken
Owner is really nice, seems strict, but never bends the rules for anyone. Posted on July 14, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ I have been to this place several times. Didn’t really have good experience, many times I found their chick hard and chewy, like it was recooked / rewarmed; so it wasn’t fresh. Their rice are very greasy too… and their staff isn’t friendly either.
If you go in a group of more than 7 persons; there will be $20 tip by default in the bill.
I have found much better Chinese restaurants in this area, so I do not go here anymore and won’t recommend anyone else. Posted on July 30, 2012 |

★★★★★ AOA!
For those who like the food at this place but are not sure if it is halal or not, I just called the restaurant and found out that they do not provide halal on request but the whole food is halal and they buy it from N M K Meat Centre. After that i called N M K and they confirmed that they sell 100% halal and Eddis's Wok n Roll is there customer.SO cheerup cuz the awesome food is 100% halal as per my investigation they rest is upon ALLAH.
Hope it would help you all.
Thanks. Posted on May 26, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Awesome food. Spacious but on weekends runs out of space with wait time. And as with most Desi places lacks organization. No desk at entry to take name for waiting. You have to find someone to give your name. However despite that the wait time was good, food was served fresh and delicious. Posted on April 29, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Last night, we ordered take out with 3 dishes including rice, noodles and main course. Honestly speaking, we were not impressed by anyone of them. I guess, we were expecting much better since we had dinner earlier at Asian Wok. n Roll and liked that so much so not impressed :-/ Posted on March 11, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Food maybe good but not so sure about their Halal status. They have a liquor license! When inquired the owner, who is not Muslim said "Our chef is Muslim". Posted on September 6, 2011 |

★★★★★ I think that this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Toronto area without question. Their soup is not great, but the Tom Yum is still pretty good. Some of their great dishes are the sliced beef with peppercorn sauce, and chili chicken. I have been here multiple times and have always left extremely happy. They are very busy, and one often has to wait for a table, but it is worth it. It is also very reasonably priced. Posted on July 31, 2011 |

NR As I just started just started my co-op job, I decided to treat the family to a night out. Ordered eleven main dishes which were all fantastic. When all was said and done I asked the waiter for the bill. When received, above the amount I had to pay which was $164 there was a section which said Tip: $20. First I thought that is what you would tip them if you would like. But then I handed it to my brother to check it because about a few weeks ago he had taken us the same place and spent just below $90 on 8 dishes. He calls the waiter to ask about the situation and the waiter replies with "We charged the extra amount if you have seven people or more". Even though last time we had come with nine people and this time it was just an extra person as my other brother was on holidays when we first went, so this time around we had 10. And then he proceeded to ask about the 10% percent discount which he had received the last time around, the waiter replied with " Only with take-out". I am not to sure if the owner/manger or whoever was just trying to squeeze a little extra before closing time because I have a fantastic memory and I do remember them offering the 10% the previous visit. On top of making us wait an hour for a table they charge you an extra $20 for there service( can't even book a table in advance so ya), we could have just done take-out received a 10% discount and not have to pay that $20 and on top of that not waste and hour while the family stands outside the building waiting, This is rather absurd I must say. You'd think they would give you a discount coming with that money people and or charge you what you purchased like any other restaurant and not add hidden fees. If you got a big family like me, this restaurant if not for you. Any who on the way out as we were walking to our vehicles my mother was like well this is the last time we are going here and she is absolutely right, we all turned around and waved goodbye... ★★★★★ Very decent place for a good family meal. Excellent food quality and great dine in environment.
If one wants a good hakka chinese food, this is definitely among the top 3 places I would recommend.
The only issue is reservation. The place does not take any reservations, the service is fast but still one could end up waiting for 30 min or so before finding a table.
The good thing is that you can order while waiting so there is no wait time when you find the table..
Highly recommended for people.. Posted on July 13, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ I don't understand this concept of Muslims in Canada. How can place that serves alcohol be considered Halal??? The concept of Halal is not just using Halal meat.... Absolutely abhorrent... Please think before anyone recommends or goes to this place... Posted on June 18, 2011 |
We clearly label restaurants that serve alcohol to their non-Muslim customers so that people who feel uncomfortable in its presence can avoid them. |

★★★★★ i love the food there n the ppl are so nice once i ordered a chilli chicken but when i got home i found out it was fish. i called back and they gave me he right order and i had my fish too :D other then they have alcohol its my fav Posted on November 28, 2010 |

★★★★★ This is the best Chinese restaurant in GTA. I specially like their Chili Chicken, Honey Garlic Fish and Manchurian Chow Mein. Prices are reasonable too. Posted on August 25, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ We ordered take out for about $35. The food was definitely NOT fresh (chicken and noodles) and customer service response was depressing. Chicken was over fried and very chewy. We drove back and returned the food without eating. They took the food back but refused to return the money. Thats poor Customer Service for expensive food. We would not recommend this restaurant to any one because the food quality is NOT consistent as it should be in good restaurants and there is no guarantee for a refund either in case you get a lemon piece. ★★★★★ Food was great, must get the chicken and corn soup....worth the drive from Boston....General Tao's chicken is my second favorite..can't wait to go again. Posted on June 8, 2010 |

★★★★★ Food & service was excellent. Halal signs are on window, menu and store sign, I inquired about source of Halal meat and they said Barakah halal store and NMK are the supplier. YET to be confirmed from supplier or from Eddie's for proof of purchase to be authentic. But the assurance was from staff that not to worry about they make sure it is halal. ★★★★★ Absolutely the golden standard of Hakka Chinese food. Best quality and service in the industry. Food taste amazing, and if youre not a fan of spicy food, you should inform the chef. This place is crowded every night for a reason. Posted on February 22, 2010 |

★★★★☆ food is very good, prices are reasonable.
this place is VERY busy during dinner hours... Posted on February 7, 2010 |

★★☆☆☆ Food is way too spicy. Everything seems like filled with 'garam masala'. Prices are above average. Just a short 2 minute drive away are ming room and Asian wok n' roll, both much better than this restaurant. Posted on September 21, 2009 |

NR Eddie's use only Maple Lodge chicken which the Maple Lodge has announced on its website to be exclusively Machine cut and not Hand zabiha. They have their own justifications and for people who are strict followers of hand cut zabiha and not the machine cut of Maple Lodge, must inquire before getting lured by the advertisement or reviews Posted on September 8, 2009 |

★★★★★ This restaurant is very nicely layed out, and has a good atmosphere. The food is delicious, and I don't believe it is very expensive either. I highly recomment this place for anyone in the mood for Chinese fod. Some dishes are fairly close to "traditional" Chinese, but most are Hakka. They are not too spicy (some are though) so they maintain the Chinese taste. I am personally a fan of spicey food, but I was satisfies with all of the dishes I tried here. The soups are delicous (hot and sour in particular) and all of the chicken dishes are yummy as well. :) Posted on June 17, 2009 |

★★★★★ This Chinese restaurant stands out from the rest. The food is unbelievably good, and surprisingly I didn't end up paying a 'fortune' for it (excuse the pun). They serve alcohol, so make sure you ask for Halal Certification if you feel the need to. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very upscale, with beautiful decor, amazing food and reasonable prices. If it wasn't for the alcohol, I'd give it an 11/10 - you can't go wrong! (It's very busy on weekends, though). ★★★★☆ Nice place - busy for dinner on the weekends so make sure to call in advance just in case.
They serve alcohol so I couldn't trust the restaurant having halaal food until I spoke / confirmed with the owner.
He said:
The beef is from Sanabil Farms which when I last checked was legit.
The chicken is from Maple Lodge so that's a topic up for debate (Mechanical Slaughter).
Bon appetite!
Remember, always do your research and never take a "Halal" sign as is. Posted on April 23, 2009 |

★★★★★ Wow!! The food here has to be the best chinese Ihave ever had!! Not only was the food great, they restaurant is really nice..!! Keep in mind I wouldn't consider this restaurant baby/toddler friendly, only because they don't have a place to change diapers :(. Other than that the food is great!! You have got to try it!
