★★★★☆ I was waiting for California sandwich to offer Halal option, went to Young/Elgin Mills on Sunday but it was closed, I was in the area last night and walked in, the lady who is manager, and the owner were very accommodating and answered all my questions regarding their halal status
They have certificate from Eddystone meats, Toronto that they are supplying 100% halal meat (chicken) in accordance with Islamic rituals and law
I did some searching on Eddystone but couldn't find anything about their halal meat status online. So i called them and spoke with owner, Eddystone is middle man or supplier, they buy halal chicken from Sargent farms which is hand slaughter outfit
Eddystone confirmed that they have separate area and tools to handle halal food.
California sandwich confirm that they use seperate area and utensils for halal chicken sandwich. Their sauce is tomato sauce no meat there.
As for the sandwich, it was great, I think it is about the taste of Italian spices and sauce, not everyone like it without desi tarka :)
I would definitely go there again and wait for halal Veal sandwich
If they have more condiments for free I would give them 5 stars. but they only have onion and jelapenio as free.
Little over priced but still worth it IMO Posted on February 26, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Complete waste of a so-called halal chicken sandwich.
It is overpriced and only the chicken is halal, not the sandwich sauce, so basically you get the most dry sandwich you'll ever eat.

★★★☆☆ Salaam. Came here oct 14th/12. Big halal certificate on front counter, only chicken being halal. There's basically only one kind of sandwich; bun with tomato sauce, and a few available veggie toppings, and add your meat. Got the Chicken (obviously) sandwich, with Onions, Posted on October 14, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ We went to this place after my white friend told me how amazing it is... I went there knowing that the cost would be high, but as return I'd have nice meal. EXTREMELY disappointed... They sandwich is no doubt bigger in size than regular burgers, but the taste is AWFUL. It was two pieces of bread, with bunch of meatball sauce and big piece of chicken. NOTHING else...!!! Not even onions! For anything else you want, you have to pay extra...! There wasn't even enough salt on the thing! We were extremely pissed at ourselves for going to this place... No taste!!!!! Awful! Will never go there again! Posted on November 27, 2011 |
