Don't let the name fool you. This is a Spanish restaurant & also has an Indian Grill inside with a separate menu. They do sell alcohol & Spanish food, but the owner is Indian and has assured that the meat is halal. Added on July 30, 2013 and last updated 11 years ago

★★★★★ I was surprised to find this restaurant listed under my google search. All of the reviews were great, so I decided to try them out on this 22nd night of Ramadan.
Upon arriving, the restaurant appeared to be Spanish, but there is a neon sign on the window "India Grill". I went inside & the waitress seated me & presented me with a very clean & properly laid out menu full of Desi dishes as well as Indo-Chinese dishes. Not knowing if the meat was halal, I ordered a spinach dish.
I received my food in an adequate time & had already had iftaar with water. The food was very good. A few minutes later the owner walked up to me & said "salaam". He asked me if I was having my iftaar. I responded to the affirmative. He looked over to his waitress & told her not to charge me. I was shocked. I hadn't had such pleasant behavior from a human being (muslim or not) in a long time. He told me that he was from India & not a Muslim but he knew it was a good deed to offer iftaar so he was going so. I wasn't planning on it, but he included rasmalai dessert as well.
I spoke with him some more before leaving. He advised me that he was a Zoastrian & his partner was a Sikh, but did assure me that the meat is halal.
Even though there was alcohol being served, based upon his good manners, I would believe the food is halal. If you don't feel comfortable that it isn't, then at least go & try the vegetarian dishes.
The service is great & the have other Spanish desserts that looked very appealing as well. I travel to Miami once a month, & this place has earned a life-long customer. Posted on July 30, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ This restaurant is mainly a Spanish restaurant, but they also have an extensive Halal menu. They also serve alcohol. Overall, horrible experience at the restaurant! Went for the first time with my family and the entire experience started out wrong. The owner of the restaurant, who speaks a little bit of Urdu, got very frustrated answering questions about the halal menu. My husband asked him about what is your most popular dish and he responded- "just pick sometime... everything is popular." We had three different waiters and overall very chaotic experience. The prices are on the pricey side as well. Something positive about this restaurant: there is live Spanish music and a Flamenco Dancer. Would I recommend this restaurant: a BIG NO! I am going out for a pleasant time with my family... Not to be treated with disrespect by the extremely rude owner!!! Posted on January 17, 2015 |
