HALAL SUMMARY
The staff of this restaurant has verbally confirmed halal status. All of the chicken items are halal, except for the Swiss Chalet sauce. The brown gravy is halal.
★★★★☆ Very friendly staff. Waiter brought halal certificate or show us upon request. He took time explaining what is halal and what to stay away from. Only chicken is halal. We got pasta and cheese pizza for kids. Ask for vegetable gravy to substitute as their known gravy that comes from the back office which contains chicken that is not halal. Will definitely visit again. Posted on March 30, 2014
★★☆☆☆ Be very careful regarding the "halal" claims of this restaurant. While the chicken supplier for this restaurant may be halal, the cooks in the kitchen and waiting staff do not understand what halal criteria are. We had bacon strips inside the chicken sandwich my wife ordered (Despite telling the waitress several times when ordering that we do not want any other meats other than Chicken in any of our food). Evidently, they are cooking bacon right around with the halal chicken (at the very least, around close proximity or with the same utensils) in the kitchen. Cross contamination at a place like this is pretty much guaranteed especially when the cooks and waiters are not Muslim and do not understand that halal food needs to be handled separately from the non-halal stuff. Clearly, they are handling the pork and bacon products alongside the halal chicken. Either that or it is just a matter of incompetence from the kitchen staff - which at the end of the day amounts to the same thing - not suitable for Muslim diets.
I would advise anyone who is serious about eating zabihah halal food to avoid this restaurant in particular, and be cautious generally with any restaurant that doesn't have a 100% halal menu. We learned our lesson tonight and will be sure never to eat meat at any "partially halal" restaurant again. Posted on January 11, 2014
