★★☆☆☆ After reading the mostly positive reviews about An Najeeb on Tripadvisor, I convinced my family and relatives to go here. Parking was good. There is ample space in their own parking lot, and this is a big plus in this busy packed area. We walked in and were seated right away because we had booked earlier. Decor not bad, a good effort was made. The service was very friendly. The waiters were not nervous, rude, or self concious ( i hate that). They actually smiled! Food came out at a reasonable time as well.
The big problem was the food itself. We had ordered the fillet steak with chips. Fillet was too chewy and tough. Nobody liked it. We ordered the half baby chicken. It was tandoori flavoured, but you could tell it was a store bought paste slathered on. Too harsh and not a well rounded flavour. Now I had ordered chicken jalfrezi. I got a sloopy curry with rectangle shaped chicken floating around in it and very very little peppers. I know everybody makes a different jalfrezi, but one thing a jalfrezi has is a lot of peppers(capsicum). This was no jalfrezi. It was a curry pretending to be a jalfrezi. Even as a curry it was not made to any great standard. It was a take away curry, not a resturaunt curry. I ordered a mixed vegetable curry. I was expecting a mix of brocolli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, the usual mixture when one imagines a mixed vegetable curry. I asked the waiter what sort of vegetables are they. He said they are out of a frozen packet. Okay, not great standard, but fine. Then more so I imagined a frozen pack of mixed veg, like carrots, brocolli, and cauliflower. But what did I find when it arrived? A mixture of beans, and corn, in guess what the same curry sauce (it seemed) that was for the chicken jalfrezi! I was turned off, cuz the curries did not have good flavour. A good curry has layers upon layers of flavor that takes time to build. Its NOT a sauce with stuff thrown in.
One more thing we ordered. The keema naan. One would expected proper browned mince inside the naan. But when we pulled our naan apart we were sorry to see some sort of light brown donner looking mystery meat. Not happy!
The good? I'll be honest. Poppadums were good. The naans were excellent.
Overall, its not a place I would come again. But I would give them one more try, because I find it hard to believe so many people seem to like this place. I would not try any curries again. They lost on the curries. Posted on May 7, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ just went here tonite - food was very tasty. But we felt cheated. The portions were very small, beef, prawns and lamb were amazing. But tiny portions made up of very little meat and lots of onions. The seating was very uncomfortable. Three small round tables put together, and my little one was squashed in a corner. When we asked the waiter to make the seating more comfortable he was quite cross and gave us some half baked excuse. The kids were half way through the chicken before we were given chips, we asked 3 times for this and no sauces provided. Would not go again due to very poor service, as there are many places in Leicester that offer great food and service and with what an najeeb charges i would not compromise on either.
A halal establishment that cheats on portions is something I found disgusting. Posted on August 24, 2013 |

NR The food was really good. In addition to the other standard dishes you find at every Indian restaurant they had a great selection of Chinese food and specialty Indian dishes. I ordered the Goan fish cooked in coconut. The fish was made to perfection and was complemented well by the subtle spice mix. I couldn't taste the coconut though.. The prawns could have done with a more thorough clean to be honest but that's the minor issue. My main complaint was the service. It took over half an hour for the food to arrive. I would have forgiven this and attributed it to the care taken in making food fresh food until we ordered ready made dessert at the treats counter and even that took a while to come to our table. I'd definitely go again for the food, I just hope the service is better next time. Posted on January 29, 2012 |

★★★★★ This place has moved to Conduit street which is walking distance from their last location. This is now my second visit, my first visit was with friends and then later on myself and my husband went to eat there. The food was great, particularly enjoyed the mixed grill as they use a yummy sauce to caot the meat and potatoes. The lamb jalfrezi, bombay potatoes, chinese rice, peshwari naan was gorgeous and the cost is very reasonable. Both me and hubby ate and drank for £30 and we were stuffed! They also do steaks, fast food menu, indian dishes and chinese dishes. A lot of variety would highly recommend the food. They also have a prayer room with wadu facilities and have divides for those who want a private table. Posted on October 7, 2011 |
