NR Famous King is the first halal restaurant in Kingston city, his food and quality and quantity is lot better than most restaurants in the country, don't forget that his beef and chicken is imported from Toronto because no Halal meat shop in Kingston and that it cost more money to be transported to Kingston and with all that his prices is better than Toronto prices when it comes to the quantity you get in your order, thanks for the owner that he make it possible for Muslims and non muslims who are Lebanese food lovers to get a halal middle eastern restaurant in kingston, we ask to support this nice restaurant Posted on September 7, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ I tried this place for a Donair only. I don't know about anything else. First look: rehire prices are higher than average prices for what they sell. But it's Halal and you don't have many choices around Kingston. And that close to downtown.
The Donair was tasty. Ie, the meat was great and plenty. But lacking everything else. It was HORRIBLY wrapped and dripped on my pants. So I had to get out of the car and allow it to drip on the ground. It dripped and drained for over five minutes. So I don't know if the meat is full of that much fat, or if the source they use is very runny... But it was their large size domaire and it left a large puddle on the ground in the parking lot beside the restaurant.
That said, after it dripped and dripped and it was finally drained, it was better than a lot if other domaire meats I've tasted in a while. But again. It was just a meat sandwich. Add something to it man. And learn how to wrap a sandwich. Maybe sell it in a cup to help with the dripping too. Posted on August 12, 2013 |
It seems to me that this brother having a Donair sandwich for the first time, yes, Donair sandwich is messy because of the liquid sweet sauce that is used as a topping, some people use garlic paste as a topping instead of the sweet sauce, in this case it will not drip because is creamy not like the sweet sauce, thanks for visiting |

NR This place is a definite no.. Food is below average with the service right beside it. Save your money try something else Posted on February 7, 2013 |
I think that you overreacting this restaurant, this restaurant has been recommended by Queen's university as most popular in kingston, and it wins the first prize by the Diabetic association in the earlier, this restaurant has been serving the Kingston community for ten years, if it was like the way you describe it, it wouldn't be alive until this present time, I think the problem lies somewhere in the inside of people not in what they writes. |

★★★☆☆ I have visited Famous King on a number of occasions in the past. The staff have been polite and friendly, the shawarma sandwiches and other side items have been decent. The plate portions have been disappointing for the price.
It would be nice for this place to get a bit of a refreshed look and for some of the portion sizes to be increased. Not my first choice anymore but still an option. Posted on November 11, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ After reading the reviews, we decided to take a chance on this place...and boy we sure regretted it!
The brother welcomed us and was very kind, however, while waiting for the food, we noticed that he would microwave everything...from chicken to rice.....our microwaved chicken shwarma plates arrived alongside ICE COLD garlic and Hummus...
The food tasted very VERY stale and we had to leave our plates and rush out of the restaurant.
Although the price was reasonable, and we really did not have any issue with "Microwaving", however, I can say with certainty that the Rice, CHicken and vegetables were most definitely a day or two old.
I would not recommend this place unless changes are made to maintain the freshness of the food. Health hazard. Posted on April 23, 2012 |
The Kingston public health dosen't allow the restaurants in the city to keep the chicken on the retosserie all day long, they recommand to pre-shave chicken shawarma and serve them after heat them in the microwave. Hummous and garlic must be serve cold, not hot,and this is happened everywhere in the world, never serve hot. You said the food is 1 day old, I don't understand that, do you want the restaurant to pick the vegetable fresh from the tree? our food is healthy and safe, we have never have a health hazard complaint since we open 9 years ago. Thanks for visiting. |

★☆☆☆☆ Our experience at this restaurant was just dismal. This was our first choice for a halal restaurant when we reached Kingston. This is after we had read the review at this site. We had dined there on April 22 around 9PM. But I have to say the quality of service and quality of food was nowhere near favourable and as per expectation. We had ordered two dinners from their menu and according to the pictures that they had pasted on their walls the meats were supposed to be done over a grill but they were not. They were pan fried. The meat itself was too salty and without any taste. They had given us a handful of rice and what looked like, half a cup of garlic sauce and half a cup of Hummus but the interesting part was that they did not provide us with pita bread. When we asked for Pita, the guy at the counter said that it will be another 25cents. I do not mind spending 25 cents but what is point of giving us hummus without a pita. I have never eaten nor have I seen people eat Hummus with rice. Also the fact that there was not enough rice to eat with hummus anyway. They charged us $10.00 for the plate which according to the portion they provided is not justified at all. On top of this they want 25cents more for pita bread, as if that will add more profit to their business where they are already making 300 to 400 percent more on the actual cost of the ingredients, labour and other over heads. Two thumbs way down. Posted on April 26, 2011 |
I think Mr.shaheenglider is missing the whole point, paying 25 cents for a pita made him upset and write such comment, even though we mentioned on the menu that pita is not included with the food, an additional 25 cents will be added in case customer want one, he too much exaggerating the profit, there is no way for any business to make up to 400 percent profit, that tells me that Mr. shaheenglider want free food because it seems that a huge plate of our food which cost $10.00 including taxes is too much for him to spend, I like to say to him that we have a restaurant and we pay for the food we sell, we don't have a charity organization, the food we gave him is the same quantity and quality we give to all customers which everybody is satisfy with it, beside that our food is the most popular when it comes to quality and very generous when it comes to quantity, and the other comments on this page and other websites can tell that our food, service and quality are the best, and is not going to stop based on (unsatisfied) customer comment . Next time we will give him a pita bread with his order (if he comes back) |

★★★★☆ Pleasant place to eat in. The Owner provided a place for Salaat and the store shows many signs of his Islamic faith. Verses of the Quran were written by hand in many places in the back room and he even made immediate changes to a small mistake we noticed in a verse. Gave directions to a nearby Mosque. We would definitely recommend this place. Posted on March 21, 2010 |

★★★★★ Donairs are excellent. Perfect for those of you who are meat-lovers(try the extremely large and filling "Belly buster".
Unique thick crusted pizzas, although do not always have full complement of meat toppings.
Delivery available. Posted on October 18, 2009 |

★★★★☆ This is a nice and clean establishment, we were happy to find this place on Zabihah.com on a stop during our drive from Montreal to Toronto. The owner(?) let us pray Zuhr there and he was very kind, and obviously Muslim. The food was also very good and prices were good. Posted on July 3, 2007 |
