HALAL SUMMARY
This restaurant has been reported to be halal by our readers but is still unverified.
★★★★☆ I have been going to Lal Qila for a long time now whenever I visit Karachi. This used to be the premier restaurant when it first opened. Now it has lost it's lead. Don't get me wrong the food is still good but the competition has caught up in terms of variety and taste. Some of the dishes here are still very good but overall quality has slipped down a bit. They definitely need to upgrade the chairs. tables, flatware and plates etc. Some of the items that I would recommend is Tandoori fish, Afghani or reshmi kabab, kunna gosht, fried prawns (shrimp). One thing that they try to do is offer something for every taste and it is a hit or a miss. Chinese dishes, or as a matter of fact most international dishes here taste like Desi food or are not authentic enough.
The ambiance is still quite good and is safe for families. The restaurant is built to look like a theme park and it resembles the famous historical Red Fort, hence the name Lal-Qila. It is a nice replica of the real thing at that fact just by itself makes it a place worth a visit. You still have waiters dressed in period costumes as well as a court jester who roams from table to table and provides decent entertainment. If you have someone in your party who is celebrating a birthday they bring a small cake to your table with a "sword" to cut the cake. My kids loved this place when they were younger, now that they are in their teens or older ... they don't care as much. However if you are a visitor to Karachi this is a must go to restaurant for you. Posted on April 5, 2018
