The owners of this restaurant are Muslim and have confirmed its halal status. From the management: 'Meat is obtained from Pilgrams which has the ISWA certification. We have halal certification hanging on the wall.'
★★★★★ First off I have to say these owners know what they are doing they have now the two best halal restaurants in the Irving Area.
We went to El Picante Cafe after finding out it has the same ownership as Krispy Krunchy Chicken and is basically right next door. The decor was pretty nice and was very clean. We ordered one of every entree they have to try everything. The food was served fairly quickly and the open salsa bar allowed us to customize the spice level as we wanted. My favorite would have to be the Quesadilla and the soft tacos. But the Chips and Queso was just to good we had to order 3 more orders after the initial one. Overall everything was great and the owners were very friendly. Will definitely be coming back again soon when im in town. Posted on December 31, 2016
★★★★★ As a convert to Islam I found it hard to sometimes find halal food that was a little different. I got tired of burgers and indo-pak foods, when I was told by a couple of friends from the irving masjid that there was a halal tex-mex place I was very excited.
First I have to say the location is in a great place with a nice park right behind it for the kiddos to play in after a marvelous meal. We went in around 3 pm on a Tuesday and it was packed with people from the post office across the street and other offices in the area. Although they were busy the food we ordered came to us in a very reasonable amount of time and I loved that the have glass bottled drinks that are imported from mexico which adds to the experience. We order a the Taco Bowl, Quesadilla, and Naanchaco. The Taco Bowl is basically an edible bowl with the toppings that you choose within it, it looked so good that at first my sister didnt want to eat it. The quesadilla is the perfect item for kids it was nice and cheesy and my nephews really liked it. I had Naanchaco which as descriped was a texas sized chalupa it was so big I had a hard time finishing it.
Overall everything was great and the ownership was very friendly as well. Posted on December 31, 2016

★★★★☆ Solid Tex Mex food that isn't flashy and reasonably priced. With the exception of a couple of items, there is nothing on the menu that can't be made at home. Toilets are clean enough. Overall just good solid food, but no spectacular. Posted on November 21, 2016
