★★★☆☆ Food is average. I really like the wantons and cheese puffs though Posted on March 11, 2016 |
★★★★☆ The atmosphere didn't go with the theme of the restaurant and the Hispanic employees didn't speak much English, but the beef with broccoli, veggie lomein, and beef fried rice were decent. Posted on February 15, 2015 |
★☆☆☆☆ Will not recommend anyone for this place. It was a very bad experience. Posted on October 6, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ Got their chicken lo mein and spring rolls for take out. Did not enjoy it at all. Sorry but I will not be trying this place again. Posted on May 14, 2013 |
★☆☆☆☆ We did not like the food at all. We ordered schezuan chicken and hot and sour soup. Hot and spur soup was ok but the chicken dish we could not eat it. Posted on March 16, 2013 |
★☆☆☆☆ Was there on a weekdsy about 2 o clock for lunch...figured all those reviews, i at least had to try...party of 2 had mongolian chicken and curry chicken lunch combo...tasted bland...probly like the others said..corn starch...soup was ok...other chinese restaurants are pretty much the same price and way better....definite no no for at least those dishes.. ★★★★☆ The food is good, the place is clean. Bathroom is also clean. Recommended to bring your family over but may not be for business partner :) Posted on January 1, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ We went to Halal Wok on this past weekend after reading all the reviews but unfortunatly had a horrible experience.
we ordered Hot and Sour soup, chicken nuggets and chicken wings. soup and nuggets were horrible and chicken wings were ok. we ordered chicken manchurian, chicken fried rice and Kung Pao chicken for dinner and i found out the reason for them to have low prices and quick service.
Low quality ingredients and long peices of boiled chicken with similar tasting base for every dish. Kung pao chicken had few peices of chicken with ton of dry fruit in a curry.
I read that owner was very friendly. well he wasnt there but the guy standing at the counter didnt have much courtesy. whenever we asked for something, he would just look at the direction of that thing and then look back at us with an expression" you seriously want me to tell you where that is".
Probably it is ok for someone living across the street who wants to have low quality fast chinese food but will not recommend for someone who actually have to drive to get there. Posted on October 10, 2012 |

★★★★★ I love the food at Halal Wok ..... Great Posted on September 14, 2012 |
★★★★★ It's an actually pretty good place to go for Asian food if you know the right dishes to pick. The beef steak dishes, the Kung Pao chicken and anything with shrimp is the way to go. Avoid the egg rolls, because Chinese pale in comparison to Vietnamese rolls, but good luck finding halal Vietnamese anything.
Very clean, generous portions for two and excellent service. I visit as often as I'm around and in the mood. Posted on March 20, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Reasonably priced food and it's a fusion of Chinese with desi as per the owner most of his customers are Pakistanis so he blended his Chinese recipes. Owner is Arab and people in kitchen are from Mexico Posted on January 15, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ Small place, ambiance is not great, food is edible, owner is friendly. Posted on November 23, 2010 |

★★★★☆ used to go there a lot before China King came into business as this was the only halal chinese place in Houston...food was OK not as good as China King though...Owner is really nice and prices ae quite reasonable.. Posted on October 4, 2010 |

★★★★★ The owner is very friendly and courteous every time we visit. This was the first restaurant that I visited after taking my shahada. The food is good, but not authentic chinese. My family and I have come to this restaurant for a very long time. My husband and I come to eat here on our date nights. Posted on August 3, 2010 |
★★☆☆☆ I was disappointed when eating here. It's the halal "Chinese" place closest to my home, but the food served is nowhere near authentic. I would consider going here if I simply wanted something fast and cheap to eat, not if I were looking for Chinese cuisine. If I wanted to introduce Chinese food to a Muslim friend, it would not be a good example. Posted on December 28, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ not really authentic, but nice owner :)
food is fine when it isn't from the lunch menu! Posted on December 27, 2009 |
★★★★★ great food, great staff! sesame chicken is a safe bet for even the picky eaters. i also enjoyed the garlic chicken and beef pepper steak. not a big fan of the soups and egg roll though...on and their gyros and spicy fried chicken is very good also! Posted on July 31, 2009 |
★★★☆☆ Pretty good food, inexpensive, but the place is somewhat small and cramped. For Houston standards, I'll say it's average. Lots of competition! Posted on July 1, 2009 |
★★★★☆ Great cheap eats. If you're looking for a lot of food for a good price eat here :) Posted on May 30, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ it's hit or miss Posted on March 27, 2009 |

★★★★★ Our family eats here regularly since moving from the UK. It's a very friendly and fairly cheap place. The chicken wings are great and and a favorite of the kids. The Chicken Lomain is also very good. Posted on January 21, 2009 |
★★★★★ The food is very good. The place is also pretty clean as weel. Order the spicy chicken wings, they are very good. Posted on November 27, 2008 |
★★☆☆☆ Not even close to the chinese we are used to eat in Pakistan. Got peas and carrots in ordinary rice for egg fried rice. No spices. They use Jalapenos to make food more spicy. Not recommended unless you would like to eat anything for a cheaper price. Posted on July 6, 2008 |
★★★★★ We ordered Spicy chicken wings...one of the best ones i had...only if you like spicy...
We ordered Sesame Chicken and another chicken item. Both were good. Clean atmosphere. wife said she could taste Corn starch towards the end of the meal, but didnt notice it in beginning, may be we were too hungry :)
I would go back here for sure. Posted on June 4, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ Most of the food tastes like corn starch. Tastes nothing like Chinese food. The only decent dish is the Sesame Chicken. I wouldnt recomend this restraunt to anyone. Posted on May 26, 2008 |

★★★★★ Great inexpensive food, courteous and quick service. Spicy halal wings were excellent. Kids loved chicken lo mein and sesame chicken. Posted on December 26, 2007 |

★★★★☆ This place is very good for desi style chinese. Chicken manchurian and chilli chicken is spicy and good. Posted on October 3, 2007 |
★★★☆☆ An average place with absolutely average taste. They didn't have good Chinese taste and more closely to middle eastern food with Chinese names. Any how owner was friendly and service was quick. Posted on July 10, 2007 |
★★★★☆ the best food i had in a while Posted on February 14, 2007 |
★★★★★ The food quality is superb! Customer service is exellent. The owner, usually seen on the register, is extremely friendly and seems like a pretty cool guy. I'd recommend sesame chicken. Sweets on the counter are not bad either. Cost is usually 7-8 bucks. Interior seems clean enough and alright for a casual visit. Posted on January 26, 2007 |

★★☆☆☆ egg roles were good but the general Tso's chicken was hard and tasteless. Posted on October 30, 2006 |
★★★★☆ The place is laid back and the foods are good. They prepare their food fast, so I go to this place when I need to get fast food. Like what others had wrote, sesame chicken is their best dishes. Other dishes are ok Posted on October 15, 2006 |

★★★★★ The place is nice, clean and easy to find (even for a business traveller like I was!). The service is very friendly. Not all dishes are "Chinese" but it's not easy to find halal Chinese where I come from (35% of population Chinese). Would not hesitate to come back. Posted on September 3, 2006 |

★★★★☆ We love this place! The food is good and the owner very friendly and accomadating. We brought my father who is on a gluten-free diet and they prepared food exactly as we asked; no problem. Posted on June 30, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ Owner is very nice, but the food is nothing special. The only reason why I don't consider it a poor chinese restaurant is because it is zabihah. Posted on June 5, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ Food is okay. They put too much cornstarch in the sauces. Sesame chicken is the best dish there. Posted on August 16, 2005 |
★★★★★ Excellent restaurant...not Pakistani Chinese like some have mentioned. The closest thing to real Chinese and Halal that we have in Houston. The wings, lo mein, and sesame chicken are my favs. Oh yea, they're chicken corn soup is really good when you have the flu. Posted on June 6, 2005 |

★★★★★ Highly recommended. You won't see any chinese chef in the kitchen but they manage to cook excellent "chinese cuisine"(if we can call it that way). Try the Hunan beef or cashew chicken. The lo mein is also pretty good. The owner is very friendly. Go and chat with him..and he has a lotta story to tell ya. Great food with a reasonable prices.
