1059 West Golf Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169
Brown's Chicken & Pasta was reported closed or not Halal 4 years ago With over 30 company and franchise owned stores in the Chicagoland market, Brown's Chicken boasts a style of chicken all our own. The recipe cooked up by John and Belva, uses buttermilk batter with cottonseed oil, delivering a delicious golden crunch on the outside with a moist and flavorful inside. We've added and subtracted many products over the years, but our chicken recipe remains the same and our customers wouldn't have it any other way. Of course, we'd never mess with the mushrooms either. Hours of operation: M-Th, Sun. 11-9 pm. and Fri/Sat. 11-10 pm. Added on June 6, 2004 and last updated 8 years ago

★☆☆☆☆ Agree with S Sheikh. This place is disgustingly dirty. They don't even have soap in the washroom to wash your hands. I hope for the sake of the patrons that there is a separate sink behind the counter for the employees where they have soap AND actually use it. The floors are also always sticky here.
I have no complaints against the staff who are nice. Just please clean up your restaurant...you're serving food!!!
As far as the food, it's decent but I did almost break a tooth biting into a hard piece of chicken. I would recommend the Wing Zings. Posted on November 27, 2017 |

This place is not what it used to be in the past. Since the new ownership change (same workers are still there) the quality and cleanliness of the store has gone down quite a bit. The last couple of times we took carry out from here the chicken seemed as if it had been sitting there in the light for a while and we all fell sick with some of the other items we ate. They need to clean the place up!

Great Zabihah food, there Chicken is great and EVERYTHING ON THEIR MENU IS 100% ZABIHAH HALAL, my Father has know the owner and his family for the long time. The establishment is still owned by the same person who is a well known muslim in the community. Posted on February 19, 2016 |

★☆☆☆☆ Horrible service - server had an attitude. Not clean - tables were filthy, the lady behind the counter started sweeping while the food was being prepared, all the forks and knives were sitting next to the garbage. Gave us food that had to be sitting under a heat lamp for 8 hours or more, soda was flat and still was $1 for refills. This place use to be nice, now it has absolutely tanked in quality. The owner has to know this but maybe just doesn't care. Posted on August 24, 2015 |

★★★★★ Food is good. If you have large order, or want a particular item super fresh, call ahead and they are happy to assist. Halal certification and certificate from Crescent Foods are clearly visible at the register counter. Posted on June 21, 2015 |

★★★★★ Great tasting Chicken! I guess it is true what they say " brown chicken it tastes better"
This is a good place if you want some tasty chicken on the go. Every time I have been there. They put my order together really fast. So it is truly a fast food restaurant! Posted on August 11, 2014 |

★★★★☆ There have been rumours that this place is not legit. These rumours are completely false. The Chicken comes from crescent. I asked the clerk (strong buff guy about the hot dogs, and he bought two boxes of al safa franks to show that the hot dogs were also legit. In fact, they are unable to serve certain items because they cannot find the halal equivalent of it. This joint was one of the first to serve legit halal fast food chicken. ★★★☆☆ Seems like the place is under new management since the last review. Honestly, the food is decent (didn't try much on the menu yet) but the place seems a little sad. There are two people who run the entire place so obviously the service was a little slow. We got the fried chicken, parmesan sandwich, and the spicy boneless wings. I asked for it to be fresh and I had to wait almost 20 min, but it was worth it for those wing zings. Even though I like KFC better, I would go there again but maybe pre-order to avoid the wait. ★☆☆☆☆ I hate to give a bad review to a muslim owned business but the service here is just awful. We have been a regular here for years and never had any issues but went in today and I asked if they have spicy chicken like they used to. The lady at the counter said no but she can put some spicy powder on it, I said can I have the powder on the side since I didn't know how it would taste....having seasoning on after it was fried....she said no. I asked why not, her response, we don't give out that much so I can sprinkle some if you want. I said that's fine, we can skip the seasoning. When she gave the chicken, it looked cold and like it has been sitting in the warmer so I said its not freshly made, she said it is since its dinner time.....I was the only customer in the store so that didn't make sense. I really hope that they improve their service and put people on the counter who are friendlier and understand customer needs. Posted on June 28, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Worst place on earth. Stay away!!!! Went there for the first time to see how this place is, returned without eating our food. One of the rudest employee I have ever seen. I bought a Italian Beef sandwich and it was rare. I am Muslim and I don't eat anything that is rare and bloody. I asked for my money back and I was refused. I am going to also complain to BBB like the previous reviewer. Service like this, this place will be out of business soon Inshallah. Posted on May 4, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Salam to all! I have been there a few times myself and with my kids. These people are idiots and don't know how to run their business. They give you such little meat on the sandwiches that you just want to bring it back and throw it at their faces. The other day I got 2 Italian beef sandwiches, but they only gave me one lil container of juice for the 2 italian beefs. I asked for pepper she gave me maybe 6 pieces of pepper in counting. I am calling BBB on them. No wonder there's only desi people who eat there and no one else. Posted on February 21, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Stopped there on Thanksgiving day while visiting my in laws in Chicago. The gentleman working was extremely nice and helpful (even gave us free soda). We ordered the chicken wings, which were good, except that we ordered two different flavors (hot and bbq). What they do is fry the wings, and then pour some cold sauce (of ketchup like consistency) on top. My experience with wings is after frying, that the wings be placed in a container and shaken up with the sauce so that the flavor spreads evenly. Since I only went one time, I don't know if this is their typical practice or just done that day. I will give it another chance since I have heard good reviews from other people. ★★★★☆ I was driving thru chicago for the night with family tonite from san diego to maryland on roadtrip ad stopped by this place today. The chicken is good and the other food is good as well.
Prices are fair except i paid 8 dollars for 5 shrimps and a piece of boxed frozen breaded fish where as the sign says cod.
As for the dreaded lady at the counter that everyone complained about, well i got to deal with her too.
I must say shes all about business and doesnt chit chat about stuff which actually is good cuzz for muslim lady the prophet saws said should not be soft in speech with other men. Shes doing just right. Other than that she was very nice may Allah bless her.
Only recommendation I have for the brother as someone thats run fried chicken restaurants before.. Is that the breading needs to have more taste and tang. Also it would be better to pressure fry rather than deep fry to avoid all that greasiness. As for the shrimp and fish combo.. Buy box of pollock or tilapia at any restaurant depot abd bread it and sell that instead of that little piece of old fish you do now.
Also not that it matters to me since in just a passerby but you should charge maybe 2 dollars for drink and then allow free refills. Soda doesnt cost much but it keeps people coming back. This is fastfood 101. Good luck and thank you for helping muslims ear zabihah may Allah bless your wealth. Posted on December 18, 2011 |

★★★★★ I think the food and device is great.the owner seems like a modest person and there's not too many places you can get delicious fried chicken that's zabiha around the Schaumburg area.the biscuits are craveworthy! Posted on October 13, 2010 |

★★★★★ the chicken is great. for excellent service, place your order with Asghar or the Russian lady. The owner, Br Ghias is rarely there. the Indian lady is all about making the most $ as possible in a single transaction. she also lacks manners and common customer service skills. would definitely recommend the food Posted on October 10, 2010 |

★★★★☆ The lady at the counter is VERY rude. We were literally one penny too short and she basically yelled at my dad to go get a penny from the car and then took it and threw it into the register. The quality of the food was very good and I will continue to return as long as the lady is not working there. Posted on June 21, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Mr. Ghias/siddiqui786,
Let me first let you know that food at your restaurant is amazing! This is the reason why we keep on going back. However, please note that the customer service really needs to improve if you want to keep your customers. The lady at the counter tends to be a bit rude when either of the guys are at the counter, they are very nice and welcoming but they are rarely there. The volume of the t.v. also makes it very hard to even place an order. It's also kind of disappointing to have to pay .50 cents for a slice of tomato on a sandwich. It is also very disappointing that us muslims sometimes get denied using coupons because "the halal meat is so expensive" but yet a non muslim gets to use the coupons. It is the muslim community that is helping your restaurant stay open so should treat them well and with respect. Please take my comments as suggestions and please not that I provide this with all due respect. Posted on June 2, 2010 |

NR asalamwailakum, my name is Ghias, I have been the owner for the last 3.5 years and still am, so I did not sell the store. I would like to insure you that everything in our store is zabiha halal, and we hope to continue serving the muslim community. if you have any questions please contact me at 847-652-2959. ★★★★☆ Really missed the branch on Devon, which closed down to my disappointment, so took a 45 minute drive up from the city, and was glad that I did. The chicken was just as good, if not better, than I remembered it to be. Plus, the fries and coleslaw were an improvement to the ones I had previously. Amazing biscuits that are flaky on the outside, but buttery and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. Everything was great, except for the buffalo chicken zingers, which were so-so in my opinion. They've come up with a burger and chicken sandwich menu that I plan on trying next time! Posted on January 22, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I visit this restaurant often as my kids like their fried chicken and mushrooms. Spicy chicken takes longer so order ahead if you looking to get that. As far as I know all the items on the menu are Zabihah-Halal Posted on January 10, 2009 |

★★★★☆ This place has REALLY improved their menu...now EVERYTHING is Zabiha-Halal! The Italian beef is to die for, and gyros are pretty good too. They only downside is that it's not a good place to sit down and eat, but for carryout it is the best options for miles. Watch out for catering service they usually get backed up, and have loooong waits. For Super-Bowl Sunday, we waited an hour and 45 minutes at the restaurant for meal we ordered a week ago...needless to say we missed the kickoff and the only touchdown Bears made :-( Posted on March 19, 2007 |

★★★★☆ I checked out this place, it seems they do buy their chicken from Crescent. They have a sign on the counter stating this. They also have a Zabihah-Halal sign on the front door.
However they did mention that the non-chicken items, like hotdogs, sausage, and beef are not Halal. But the Gyros are.
The regular flavor is not all that great, but one can order the spicy version of any chicken item, takes a bit longer, but worth the wait.
I also saw a Curry place next door, not sure if that's Halal as well. Posted on May 22, 2005 |

★★★☆☆ I will correct myself. After posting this, brother stopped by and told me that infact the owner is trying to get his menu fully zabiha. Not sure when this will happen, but keep posted. In addition, there is no pork item on the menu according to the owner. Posted on June 14, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ The only think Zabiha there is the chicken. Everything else is not Halal. I asked the manager where the chicken is from and he mentioned from Cresent Chicken. Then I called Cresent to ask if this location actually buys from them and they said yes. I also asked if Cresent was the only provider and the manager said yes. I confirmed that too with Cresent. I went and tried the chicken, which was fine, but I recommended to them to have spicy version, which they said they will have on weekends and evenings. Having said this, I would recommend making sure this location keeps selling zabiha chicken. Since they sell Haram there too, a constant check is necessary. I am planning on doing that.
