Phở Ellie |

765 South State College Blvd., Suite B, Fullerton, CA 92831
Phở Ellie was reported closed or not Halal 4 years ago Formerly a popular Indian restaurant called Aatish, Phở Ellie continued to use halal meats to accommodate the Muslims who continued showing up. The result is a rare Vietnamese halal restaurant in the United States. Besides the most popular phở (Vietnamese noodle soup) dish, customers can sample a variety of meals such as cubed chicken rice plates, beef stew with French bread or delicious grilled shrimp/egg roll vermicelli. Don't forget to add a side order of freshly made to order spring rolls and of course the famous Vietnamese iced coffee. You can view the complete menu on their website at phoellie.com. Closed Sundays. Added on January 24, 2009 and last updated 7 years ago

★★★★★ Highly recommended! This is the only halal Vietnamese restaurant that I know of, but even despite the novelty, Pho Ellie is a great restaurant. We went for lunch on a Saturday and ordered the Combo 1 (a hot sandwich with a small bowl of pho). I ordered a beef sandwich with the rare steak and brisket pho and a lemonade. The sandwich was relatively simple (sliced beef, chili sauce, mayonnaise, and a cabbage salad on French bread) yet tasty. The pho was amazing, especially the broth! It comes with a plate of garnishes to add to the pho; add them all to your bowl, especially the lemon and lime juice. The lemonade was top-notch, clearly homemade and a great balance of sweet and sour. The portions were perfect, not too tiny yet not leaving you uncomfortably full. The workers were friendly, and the space itself is nicely arranged and well-lit. It's far from where we live, but Insha'Allah we will definitely be coming back! Posted on January 15, 2017 |

NR They seem to have closed. One site says "permanently closed" another says "temporarily closed". Their website is down and the listed phone number has a message that the number is "not a working number". I came by last night and looked inside and there is still equipment inside, but, it doesn't look like they are going to be opening anytime soon. Posted on August 27, 2020 |

★★★★☆ I have tried their beef pho, lemon grass chicken and house noodles, so that is all I am going to review.
Pho was really good. Needed condiments (hot sauce) to kick it up a notch but overall it was worth the trip. Lemon grass chicken is delicious and it comes with these green tinted rice. House noodles were also better than expected. The service was nice and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. I took one star off because the quantity of beef was less than what I expected. ★★★★★ I stopped by here a few years ago when they first opened and hadn't been back in the area since until last week. The menu had gotten larger and they have some combo plates which gave us the option to try sown thing different. Since we only eat Halal it was great to eat spending other than Indo/Pak, Persian, or Lebanese. The Pho was very good and we enjoyed the change in cuisine. Hopefully I'll be back in the area sooner than last time. Posted on July 6, 2015 |

★★★★★ I come to this place every time I'm in the LAX area. The service is many grades higher than halal restaurants in general. The servers are always smiling, checking up on water, and even give an update if the meal is going to take a few more minutes. Very hospitable, very friendly, and definitely good food. ★★★★☆ This place is very clean and I tried their number 1 combo which is a beef sandwich with the beef pho. Really good. Ask for the special honey citrus tea too. I really enjoyed it. Posted on October 9, 2014 |

★★★★★ I have been to this place a few times now since it is close to my office. They have several different dishes other than Pho. So if you are not a fan of noodle soup there are other options to try. I particularly do not like Pho, but I really like their lemon grass chicken (served with rice) as well as their beef steak noodles. I have not yet tried there sandwiches, but there seem to pretty popular with other customers. The place itself is pretty spacious and clean. The staff (which I believe is the family that owns it) is very nice and helpful. I would definitely keep going back. Posted on October 11, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Nice to have Vietnamese halal option. Note: the beef meatballs are not halal, and it states this on the menu. They have fresh chicken and shrimp spring rolls which is nice to eat. Te pho is pretty good. I think the serving is a little smaller than large size pho in other places. Th owner is frendly. I would go back Posted on September 19, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ well...the first time I went I ordered pho--my first experience with the dish. I wasn't really a fan of the dish itself, which unfortunately, left me not wanting to experience the restaurant itself again. I don't think that has anything to say for the restaurant, but moreso the dish. Posted on June 23, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Its the only Halal Vietnamese Restaurant. It has all typical vietnamese dishes like Pho and Bun and has also good side dishes. Nice , clean and economical place for a quick pick at lunch. Posted on January 16, 2010 |

★★★★★ My family went there during the afternoon of 11/6/09 and the food was very good. Tried the beef Pho and the beef stew, both were delicious. also tried the egg rolls and the spring rolls, of the two, the fried egg rolls were by far the better. For me, since I'm a bread lover, was the toasty warm french bread. That was classic and very tasty. Posted on November 7, 2009 |

★★★★★ So healthy and delicious food! We tried the spring rolls, the chicken pho, the half chicken plate, and the cube steak with vermicelli. All were so good. My two little boys loved the food too. Can't wait to go again! Posted on September 28, 2009 |

★★★★☆ This place is really good and interesting. This is more of a sit and stop place than a restaurant. The food menu is very simple. The food it self is terrific and delicious. I never had Vietnamese Food before and it was interesting. "It is not Chinese Food!" The owner is really nice, and bought the restaurant that use to be a Indian Halal joint, and decided to use Halal meat to see if Muslims will come and eat, and it is working and other people are loving it and have the same taste as I do. This place is only 6 months old and growing in numbers. Posted on August 31, 2009 |

★★★★★ I went there with my wife and son there on Friday 7/3. What a wonderfully clean place this is. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Vietnamese food is not like Chinese and that said it is very tasty. Try their specialty which is PHO Soups. Highly recommended. Posted on July 4, 2009 |

★★★★★ A true GEM to have such a nice & clean Vietnamese Halal restaurant in the area. I am a Vietnamese-Muslim and barely get to experience the abundance of Vietnamese foods in Little Saigon. I was so pleased to see that there was a Viet halal restaurant while browsing Zabiha for the first few times I came on here. Food is great, service is very nice, the establishment is very very clean & bright, and most importantly its halal! I would highly reccommend anyone to try their Spring Rolls. If you haven't then you must! An order only comes with 2 rolls and its for about $3.25. Don't try to share it either because I can guarantee you that you'll end up wanting more!
Really wish there were more Vietnamese,Korean,Thai, etc Halal restaurants out there but being that this is the only first ever Vietnamese halal restaurant I've known of, I will definitely drive the 10 miles here.
Wonderful place overall! Posted on June 13, 2009 |

★★★★★ My friends and I ordered their spring rolls, Pho with brisket, and vermicelli with steak. The vermicelli was my favorite but we all walked away very happy, and exchanged remarks about the fresh cuts of beef. Pricing was very reasonable, and next time I plan to have their ice coffee, as well! Posted on May 12, 2009 |

★★★★★ Excellent food, quick & friendly service and a nice & clean area to sit.
I was visiting from San Francisco and thought to give Pho Ellie a try since halal vietnamese is hard to come by. The food is excellent, the taste has the home made touch to it which is rare anywhere. The owner was very friendly and service was quick and courteous. I will recommend it to anyone who is in the area visiting like me or a local resident. Posted on April 11, 2009 |

★★★★★ Loved it. I had the rare steak and brisket Pho. It was great. Had vietnamese food for the first time and fell in love with their cuisine. Also had the VERY strong vietnamese iced coffee, really good. Posted on March 17, 2009 |

★★★★★ I had been waiting for a halal vietnamese place for a long time, this place exceeded my expectations. The restaurant was very clean. We went at a busy time on saturday afternoon. There were only two people including the cook and what appears to be the owner lady. Even then service was very quick. We tried the egg rolls that were great. Pho, which was a noodle soup with steak, that was average, my mom had the vermicelli with steak that was excellent. The food was so good that we loaded up our big klan the next day, and headed back. Unfortunately, it was closed on Sunday. Anyways, this place is excellent, and a nice change from our typical desi food. I am definitely going to be a regular here. Posted on February 25, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I tried the beef cubes with rice dish and enjoyed it. The portion was a little smaller than I expected, and it was priced at $6.75. They also had a chicken version as well. However it looks like their other specialties include Pho (soup type dish) with other types of meats. Service was excellent. It was a change of pace from the typical desi, arab, chineese halal restaurant. I really enjoyed the very strong Vietnamese coffee. Next time I'll have to try the Pho. Posted on February 5, 2009 |
