★★★★☆ Went couple of times with family, above average food taste and portions. Above average ambiance. Normally its not easy to find parking.
Prices not too high but on higher side. Staff is friendly. Posted on August 21, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Good food. The white sauce is great. I like the chicken breast kebab. It was very packed the few times I went, but service was great each time regardless. Posted on August 13, 2013 |

★★★★★ This is the best afghan food you can get around NYC the one in Hicksville sucks and is over priced this choopan is cheaper and much better.. Beats Kabul kebab down the block... Can't comment on the food being halal or not I personally don't care if it is or not.. But if they claim it's halal it better be cuz toying with peoples religious eating beliefs is just messed up.. But yeah I doubt these nice people would lie but I have seen many afghan fried chicken stores lie about food being halal... Just because a pepperoni is beef doesn't make it halal it has to be halal beef Posted on September 26, 2010 |

★★★★☆ The original! Well, at least it's the first afghani place I remember eating at. Food's still great and I never had a bad meal. Decor is blah but whatever, if you eat at halal palaces this is typical. Not super clean either. The prices and portions are fair though. Posted on August 24, 2010 |

★★★★★ Salaam
I have been going to this restaurant for many years now and am a personle friend of the owner. Whoever wrote that this restaurant is selling haram meat, really has no proof. Yes they may have saw an owner buying meat from a western market. But you should really think about it... they are an established restaurant and would not buy bulk meat from a western market. Think about what you are saying. In addition, this is a website talking about what is halal and what is haram, people should know that it is right to criticize someone of something without knowing if it is true or not. ★★★★★ Great food! very good but one thing i am always expecting when i go to an turkish/afghan/arab restaurant or any mid-eastern restaurant is the excellent white sauce that they have..The food is really excellent Posted on November 19, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ Salaam. the food here is good and reasonably priced. i recommend the cornish hen and lamb w/rice. though, yes, the water is tap, so you're better off ordering a soda. there is kind of a funky smell when you walk in but if you're able to look past that, then it's fine. place is a bit small but more cozy than congested. enjoy! :) Posted on December 18, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ Had to ask to turn on A/C in the July heat. The food was rotten, Four of my family members got sick after eating here. We couldn't even eat one of the dishes (kababs) because it was spoiled. And the whole place smells like dead mice. Horrible service, its a one man show. Don't eat here, unless you want to end up in the hospital. Posted on November 5, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ the food is great. the water tastes kind of funny. they need more waiters though... they take too long...the food is always cold. i wouldnt recommend it to anyone who is not patient and is a clean freak. Posted on June 19, 2006 |

★★★★☆ Small but quaint little restaurant with excellent food. Posted on November 6, 2004 |

★★★★☆ TOTALLY GREAT AFGHANI FOOD. I COULD DRINK THAT WHITE SAUCE ALL DAYY/./YUMM! Their combination platter is the est. Soups and appetizer is great. very reasonable priced. Waitress was very nice to pack leftovers, and fill our water, etc. Posted on August 24, 2004 |

★★★★☆ The food always tastes consistent which is a huge plus (delicious with a capital D); the rice is simply amazing and that green spicey chutney on each table is mouth watering when dripped onto the meat dish of your choice. It is located right across from the botanical gardens and in the heart of flushings and about 20 minutes from Jones beach so location is great. 2 things that are not so hot about it is I think it is a little understaffed (need 1 more waitress) and do not try their water (horrible tap). Nice setup though (very green). Posted on February 23, 2004 |

★★★★★ choopan is great. as a fellow afghan conneseiur it's the best afghan available in queens... cheaper than the others and great food. also, i agree with the above poster who said that the owner was pleased to give us a prayer rug... i eat there often for this reason. Posted on January 31, 2004 |

★★★★★ Besides the excellent quality of food, this was the only place where the owner was more than pleased to provide his patrons with a prayer rug and a spot to pray. The waitress was very congenial and food very good. I recommend this place wholeheartedly. Posted on January 27, 2004 |

★★★★☆ When we went there, we were about ready to leave after 20 minutes because the waitress was just ignoring us. Then the chef (I think he was the owner) saw us and convinced us to stay. He even gave us some appetizers and an extra meal to take home for free. The food was fantastic and I will go here again, but next time I will make sure the waitress serves us and takes our order on time and doesn't stand at the register filing her nails. The chef/owner did all the work when we went there and I mean taking the order, cooking and serving, and clean up. Posted on December 20, 2003 |

★★★☆☆ An Afghan Kabab house in Flushing, proximal to other similar establishments. I was unable to try the house special as it was unavailable that day. Serves kabab items including the famous choopan, chapli, chicken breast, shish, and many more. Spoken highly of by the locals and an Islamic atmosphere. Posted on June 3, 2001 |
