★☆☆☆☆ I went to this place after about eight months. Earlier it used to be one of my favourite places for informal occasions. However this time, it was a BIG disappointment. First thing I noticed was the waiter, very amateur and totally un trained. My wife asked for a glass to pour out her pop and he bought a plastic glass with several cracks. When he bought food, he did not know who ordered what and also fumbled with several items. At around 8:30 pm when we had almost finished our meal, he came to say that they will be closing in half an hour. He even started clearing the table and had to be stopped as my son was still eating. He made it very clear by his actions that he wants us out ASAP, even half an hour before the closing time. We were never asked if we needed anything more or how do the dishes taste. This was the worst service I have seen in a Canadian restaurant. Coming to food, the first thing I noticed was the quantity they serve. We ordered platters and there used to be three skewers of meat ( chicken or beef kabob platters) and now you only get two. They have also reduced the size of pita. On top of this the taste of food, including the pita has really gone south. Overall this was a BIG disappointment. I would never go back to the place. I am sorry that I can not even mention a single positive aspect of our dining experience. Posted on February 16, 2014 |

NR I called on behalf of the mosque to verify of this is halal. Individual was rude and hung up. This is not the first time that someone from the community has been hung up on:

★★★☆☆ This place has changed ownership and is now called Salam Pita. Their menu is pretty good, but I would have to say that price/value is not. For the price of one Lahm Ib Ajeen (cut into pieces), you can get 4 or five full ones at Shamsane in the north. I ordered a mixed beef and chicken platter, and while they load everything else (rice, veggies, etc), the meat quantity was little. My wife also ordered a beef shawarma, and the size was small compared to other shops.
Although I realize you can't compare a shawarma to a donair, if you expect to be full by ordering the shawarma, you might want to order another side dish - but then your meal becomes pretty expensive. And they are pricey to begin with. One platter for me, one shawarma for my wife, one order of Lahm Ib Ajeen and one order of cheese Ib Ajeen (and both are one bread cut into 4 slices), 2 pops, and two orange drinks was $50. An all you can eat Halaal buffet for 2 adults and 2 children at Punjab's was only $35 and way more filling. The food does taste good though - I think even better than the previous owners and their fresh baked pita is better than the previous owner's as well - but alas, you only get one with your order, so you'll have to dish out for more.
@Katusha: Cheapness has nothing to do with it, nor it being a sit down restaurant. The same food (and even better food) can be found elsewhere for a lesser amount. And if this is your idea of splurging on your spouse - taking him/her to Pita the Great (or Salam Pita now), I feel bad for them. Posted on September 17, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Nice place to eat some good fresh made Leb food. The flavors are definitely there. As for the price that everyone has been commenting about, its a restaurant not a fast food store. Sitting there with your wife and eating a nice meal should be the focus, not how much you paid. Plus its not that bad. It might be a little more than a Punjabi Buffet but common & get over the fact that you spent more than $10 on your spouse for a good meal. Posted on March 8, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ I think the old owner is WAY better than the new manager. everytime we go their they give us frozen pita and we tell them that but they dont listen they keep doing it my only advice is now that i would not reccommend this restuarant to anyone. Posted on November 13, 2010 |

★★★★☆ I would definetly recommend to everyone.. The place was clean and good spacious restaurant.. Service was a lil slow but worth the wait as food was delicious, not cold at all, and a very good amount of quantity.... I would definetly go back to the restaurant..... and yes staff was very efficient/helpful and friendly.. Posted on June 6, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ This place was very good when it first opened but the quality of the food has definately gone down. The service here is quite bad. Bunch of young kids serve you. I ordered the chicken shawarma platter and when the waiter brought my food he said the pita would a little while because it was being made fresh. However I finished my meal and the pita never came.
