★☆☆☆☆ Went there for lunch today and I was excited and hungry and was loading up my plate on the buffet when I saw sitting right there between the chicken and fish curries...PORK....pork, piggy, soowarr, argh...I almost dropped my plate. I asked the waitress about this being a Zabihah restaurant and her response was that it is cooked seperately yadi, yadi, yadi...
I don't understand the need to serve such a disgusting item where you expect muslims to eat.

We've labeled this as a partial halal restaurant due to the presence of pork |

NR We went here with friends and really enjoyed the food and fruity drinks. Everything was very different and tasty. The food was on the spicy side, but the drinks (wood-apple?) cooled down the palates nicely. I hadn't even heard of the fruits that were used in the drinks here (they come from a special Sri Lankan market apparently), but I enjoyed them a lot. The most different dish we tried was one where rice, boiled egg, fried onions, a curry sauce, a kabab/dumpling, a chicken or beef mixture all came arranged inside of a banana leaf. You unwrap the banana leaf and -- voila! -- hot food inside that you then mix all together and dole out to your guests. It was delicious and unique and pricey. I was so disturbed to find that pork is served there (they said they cook it separately), however, that I have decided not to return since then. It was a nice one-time experience. It reminded me of my South Indian sister-in-law's family's cooking -- their food is very tropical and spicey with a lot of sea food used, and so was this. Posted on May 23, 2013 |
