★★★★★ Amazing food ... Amazing service. Very cozy restaurant. Very friendly staff Posted on July 15, 2019 |

NR This place has moved and is now located at 1734 Main St, Columbia, SC 29201. I was in Columbia a few weeks ago and stopped by at Al Amir's with my wife for lunch. There is a take away section and a sit in area. The place was busy. Took ages for the waitress to come to us and then ages for the food to arrive. My wife liked her Kufta Burger but I found my Al-Amir Melt Wrap bland and under cooked. It had been recommended by the waitress. A few weeks later I was in Columbia again and decided to give it another try. I was alone this time. I felt like a pizza with meat so I had a build your own with grilled chicken, peperoni and olives. It took ages to come and then when it did I was so disappointed. Crispy crust, there was barely any sauce and the chicken was tough and dry. I don't intend to come here again. The staff are nice and they apologise because of the long waiting times but the food isn't worth it. Posted on September 9, 2017 |

★★★★★ Very good food. Restaurant is called Sahara now. Still has the same Al-Amir menu. Posted on August 11, 2015 |

★★★★☆ Really good food. I had chicken showerma and a falafel wrap and loved both. I was assured the chicken and lamb are halal by a waitress in a very short shorts! (Agreeing with the previous comment).
If I come back again to columbia SC I will comeback here to try more on the menu. Posted on September 10, 2013 |

★★★★★ Ordered hummus appetizer, and BBQ chicken pizza. All food was delicious and appropriate temperatures. Clean, nice environment if you want to dine-in. Waitress very pleasant (would of preferred waitresses to wear pants instead of short-short shorts!). Food was reasonablly priced, and good food selection of menu. Waitress stated only chicken and lamb halal. No pork, no alcohol :D Posted on August 28, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I had lunch here with friends, I ordered chicken tawook, presentation was okay but chicken was undercooked and unconsumeable, on top of that my plate had human hair mixed in veggies. The waitress was very helpful and replaced the food and did not charge for my lunch. My friends ordered chicken shawarma and gyro sandwich, Shwarma was strange but gyro was good. I might give it a try again. Posted on May 23, 2012 |

★★★★★ They have an excellent selection of food for the entire family. The kids loved the chicken nuggets and the hamburgers. Their grilled chicken salad was awesome. We stayed an extra day in Columbia just to have lunch there the next day. Posted on January 29, 2012 |

★★★★★ I ate at this restaurant and loved it. It's owned by Muslims who get their own meat. The owner and his family are very friendly and make awesome kabobs. Posted on August 26, 2011 |

★★★★★ I made one hour drives to eat at this establishment several times in 2003 and 2004 .... bringing family and friends along. The quality of food and ambiance were excellent .... especially given the price (a bargain). Most of the clientel is non-Muslim. This is an excellent place to bring both Muslim and non-Muslim friends. I now live 12 hours away .... and miss eating at Al-Amir. Posted on July 31, 2006 |
