★★★★☆ We were told on a recent visit that ALL his meat is halal, which is not surprising since many Arab Christians insist on halal maybe because it's what they're used to back home? He even told us that some of the area restaurants that claim to be halal are in fact not, and that the law in NY currently allows you to demand proof (wasn't that always allowed?) Anyhow, the shawarmas are very good, include the necessary pickled turnips, which is hard to find (a good authentic shawarma). If you order an entree it will be expensive, almost $20. You do get a lot of meat, so decide if it's worth it to you.
Dining in is OK, there are nice paintings on the wall that bring this place one step up from the atmosphere of most Muslim-owned restaurants, however the downside is that his a/c is insufficient for the space. I will do take-out shawarmas from now on. Posted on June 9, 2013 |

NR On here it says they are open 11am to 10pm. When we got there, they were closed with a sign that they open after 4pm. Call ahead! Posted on July 5, 2012 |
We updated the listing - thanks for the heads-up |

★★★★★ One of the best halal restaurants in the Albany area. They have reasonably priced food. Posted on January 27, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Excellent Lebanese food served in a pleasant dining area with uniquely painted walls. The owners are Lebanese Christians, but they do offer a couple dishes with halal meat (the chicken kabob is one of them, but ask them first what is halal to be sure). There is currently no alcohol served, but a liquor license is pending. The chicken was delicious; there were lightly-marinaded white meat pieces stuffed in flatbread with lettuce, tomato, olives, and an unidentified (but good) purple pickled vegetable. It also came with a small side of cold lentils, which were superb. Rindala, one of the owners and waitresses, was extremely friendly and hospitable. Posted on June 29, 2009 |
