Being pakistani i always look for certain spice but food here was totally bland. All of us including some of family members who had been regular to this place years ago did not like the food. ★☆☆☆☆ First time I went, the owner came across as a bit discourteous and unaccommodating; the food was bland and nothing special, which was disappointing given the excellent rating here. I thought it might have been a one off event so I went again next time, expecting something better. I tried to explain to the owner that I wanted my shawarma a little more spicy/flavory and he appeared least bothered in response. After I paid, I requested the free drink advertised with the chicken shawarma. Apparently I missed the fine print stating cash only and so I was barred from it despite having ordered not one but three shawarma. In response, the owner was rude and made a remark about paying attention. Finally, the nail in the coffin, when I got home and got to the eating, the food tasted nasty and overloaded with garlic. Apparently that's what he made out me telling them to not give me a bland shawarma. Posted on May 5, 2014

★★★★★ We've visited this place many times. Love the chicken Shawarma! so yummy and so filling. Usually we ask them to make it a little spicey w/ a kick vs the original flavor. Definitely get their special 'date drink'! Thats the burgandy color drink that comes with cut almonds. So super yummy. Owners are muslims, the place is close to student housing and is super busy all the time, visited by muslims and non muslims alike. Negative: Meat quality is sub par and food taste cannot compare with places in New Jersey, New York, or Virginia. Overall: If you are really craving meat and/or shawarma then give it a go. ★☆☆☆☆ Plastic found in a shawerma wrap. I was going there for two years now. The food is average, but I was thinking this is the best available Halal restaurant in Boston. Today, I went there with my pregnant wife. We found a plastic in her shawerma wrap. We don't know if we had eaten some. I talked to the manager and he replied that he's "sorry, it might came from the bread's bag," I was shocked, Is that all?. I paid the full bill before I tell him. He took the money and we didn't eat even half of our wraps till we found the plastic. Now, I need to find another alternative. I brought my entire family including my husband, kids and husbands parents and my Father in Law who heard him being rude to me refused to even eat the food. ★★★★☆ We are a couple that usually shares a combo plate and one of their drinks. Both the lemonade with rose water and other red drink with almond slivers are delicious. We have never tried the desserts there... we're always stuffed after the combo plate. I would warn against the lentil soup though. We tried it once; it tasted really bland and was too thick. NR Beef lamb shawarma is outstanding at Shawarma King, and the other items that I have tried have been consistentlt excellent. They raised the price of the shawarma wrap to 5 dollars last year but still very reasonable. The owner also verbally verified that the meat was zabiha, and I have no reason to question it.
