★★★★★ very nice, cozy restaurant. more of a takeaway place than a dine-in type restaurant as there's not much inside. the lady who takes the orders said salams to me and sounded like she was muslim Alhamdulillah. ordered the special chicken fried rice and shrimp chow mein and she said it was gonna be 20 min wait so i hung out at the restaurant. food was ready a little before the 20 min was up and man was it tasty! real guyanese chinese food! they even put pieces of cut up bora in the rice mm mm so good. looking forward to next time when i think i'll order the pepper shrimp! ★★★★★ Very nice place .... not flashy. No menu or graphics on the wall. You order straight from take-out menu on a piece of paper. Tried the beef chow mien & fried rice with chicken. Both were excellent. Large signs that say no pork & no alcohol. My kind of place! Posted on March 5, 2013
★★★★☆ Really great place for lunch. Had the lunch special of Chicken Roti and drink for $5.25 (only available for take out). Good size portion, good service. Will come again for sure. Posted on March 23, 2012
★★★★☆ Food is pretty decent. We had special chicken fried rice wings. Price was good too. Front staff was friendly. Would have given this place a 5 star if we hadn't tried Caribbean Heat 2 (another Halal restaurant near Finch/427). We will probably eat here again because this is closer to home and Caribbean Heat 2 isn't in the greatest area... Posted on January 8, 2012
★★★★☆ It's in a plaza with a deserted Sunoco gas station and Saturn dealership. I guess this was because of Nortel's departure?
I was the only one inside.
I ordered chicken fried rice. It was well made and it was a good enough portion that I split it with a friend.
They also sell snacks such as pine tarts and coconut cake and sugar cake if you are interested.
I think they are closed on Monday's so be careful or call ahead. Posted on June 1, 2011
★★★★☆ I tried the Jerk Chicken with Rice and the Island Hut Chow Mein. I was not disappointed by either dish, but enjoyed the Chow Mein, in particular.
Both dishes came with salad and hot(!) sauce and they even asked what kind of gravy I would like with the Jerk Chicken (I opted for Oxtail).
Service is friendly and the premises is very clean. Posted on September 16, 2009
