Oodles n' Oodles |

Star City, Nechells, Unit 1B, Birmingham, West Midlands B7 5SB
Oodles n' Oodles is a brand-new restaurant at Birmingham's Star City that offers casual pan-Asian dining in a modern, open-plan environment. Noodles are cooked from scratch in the open kitchen and you can watch the action on the TV screens which are dotted around the venue. Panda prints on the wall provide the oriental flavour to complement a menu that encompasses plenty of rice and wet and fried noodles dishes from China, Japan and Southeast Asia. There are also hot and cold oriental desserts as well as mocktails, smoothies, soft drinks and iced coffees. Added on February 18, 2010 and last updated 9 years ago

★★☆☆☆ Poor service. Desi fusion in all the items, don't expect proper oriental taste here. Posted on April 2, 2016 |

★★★☆☆ Good food but portions are tiny. Also the standard noodles are very thin and not not nice. You have to order the more expensive thick noodles. Posted on June 3, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Very nice looking place; very clean.
Inspected the toilets and they were very modern and looked hygienic enough.
I'm not sure what kind of cuisine this place is supposed to be doing. It isn't Chinese; it isn't Malaysian; it isn't Thai. Maybe it's 'Fusion' - that oft used adjective that seems very trendy and which some restaurant owners think is a cool buzz word for bringing in the modern diner.
But anyway, regardless of national origin the food is generally pretty good. It isn't cheap but it is worth it given the overall dining experience.
The only downside in my opinion are the noodles; very lacklustre and wishy washy as if they don't quite know what they want to be - a bit like the 'fusion' cuisine I suppose.
Oyster sauce is highly recommended by me as are the chicken and the prawn starters.
Oh and definitely go for the lime cooler when you order drinks - it is something special!
On one of my visits I unfortunately got into an altercation with one of the managers who was quite clearly a cretin. I was unable to use my NHS discount that day (oh I forgot to mention you are supposedly able to get 10% off if you bring your NHS staff ID card - worked for us the first 3 or 4 visits anyway) because apparently they had a lunch time special offer that took precedence over my NHS discount. Great I said, let me have that, but oh no, lunch time is over so you can't have your lunch time offer. OK, let me use my NHS discount then? oh no, you can't use that because our lunch time special takes precedence over that discount.
It was like a broken record. Honestly, sometimes my fellow asians make me want to hit my head against a wall (or perhaps hit their head against a wall).
Anyway, imbecile managers aside, I highly recommend this place.

NR Been to authentic Chinese restaurants and was recommended this one by friends (who obviously have no idea of Chinese food).
The decor is beautiful and service was first class, obviously as there was no one else in there.
The food is bland at best, we tried 4 different dishes only one seemed to be on the ok side.
The worst thing was getting the bill £50.00 with drinks for something not even enjoyed.
Thought you paying more for the style than substance. Posted on December 31, 2010 |

NR Very disappointed with an offer of buy one main meal and get another free during rhamdhan, thus excluding a large majority of their loyal Muslim customers! Hope they do another offer outside of rhamdhan. Good food though, can b a bit greasy. Posted on November 20, 2010 |
