★★★★★ This is a halal South Asian and trying to be Middle Eastern restaurant jammed unhappily into a plaza with Dollar and Extra. The restaurant is adjacent to the O.G. Ravi Kabab. If you can't find parking, go around the back and deprive a local resident of a parking spot. If you come to a restaurant like this you already know you shouldn't bring the 2005 Mercedes-Benz E55.
This is a down-home restaurant -- expect few frills but the food makes up for that. The Qeema Karahi for two ($26) is an excellent greasy, spicy version of qeema, fried ground beef in a tomato sauce served topped with ginger and cilantro with 2 naans and "salad" -- expect enough for 4. Similarly, for kabob fans consider the Kabob Karahi ($26)as an unusual take on karahi -- seikh beef kabobs are fried in a tomato sauce and topped off with ginger and cilantro. The prepackaged kulfi (ice cream made with condensed milk) in the freezer is addictive, save it for last or as an appetizer while the kitchen is cooking your order of both the Qeema Karahi and Kabob Karahi. But the star of the show is the Chat Papri ($8), a pretty much perfect version of chat (a melange of chick peas, fritters, dahi bara, and more) with a balance of spicy, savory, and sweet flavors and fresh crispy papri (not the pre-baked imitators that come in the muffin boxes). Top off your food coma with Kashimir Chai -- a creamy variant of chai with nuts. Posted on June 9, 2018 |

★★★★★ The Kashmiri chai here is the only reason I come, and it is worth the drive just by itself. Posted on October 1, 2017 |

★★★★★ My go to spot for breakfast. They make amazing plain, keema (meat), and potato parathas. Kashmiri chai and kheer (rice pudding) are also really good. They have some other items like shawerma, burgers, and samosas but I've never tried them. The dude working at the register is super nice. Only bad part is that they open at 11am. ★★★★☆ From the owners of Ravi Kabob comes a chaat house that specializes in shawarma. :)
The service was great, the chaat was decent, and its the only place in the area I have been to that has Kashmiri chai. Will definitely return. Posted on June 8, 2014 |
