The Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board Incorporated (MMHCBI) is a joint creation of DTI-ARMM, ARMM Business Council, and the Darul Ifta (Muslim House of Opinion) and is supported by the Local Governance Support Program in ARMM (LGSPA) of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). MMHCBI was established in 2006 as a major component of the Halal Industry Development Program of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and as the administrator of the unified regional halal certification system. ARMM is home to more than 80% of the Philippines? Muslim population estimated at between 5 to 7 million and the center of Islamic culture and heritage in the country. MMHCBI, as the sole accredited halal certifying body and service provider by the Autonomous Regional Government (ARG) thru the Department of Trade and Industry-ARMM, is under the auspices of the Darul Ifta whose members are eminent theologians of the region backed up by expert personalities from various disciplines.
