17 reviews

New owners (2011) are Pakistani Muslims. They provide verbal assurance that all food served is completely Halal. Samosa Garden is not only known for the selection of samosas, but their popular lunch buffet. This high demand has resulted to a weekend all-day buffet as well that includes more veggie and non-veggie dishes and desert. Buffet menu ranges between $9.35-$12.95.   Added on December 31, 1969 and last updated 7 months ago

★★  After 4 years we went to Samosa Garden and were totally disappointed with the food. Lamb curry had a bad smell, chicken had no taste and most of the food item was vegetarian as well as very pricey. I would not recommend anyone going there. Not sure if the place is Halal due to alcohol being served. Had a gut feeling after having dinner with my family that this place is not Halal.

★★★★★  This place serves halal meat, I saw a certificate o the wall behind the cashier, but they also serve alcohol so I guess its not totally halal per say, but they do serve halal meat for sure.. food is very good although its a bit pricey but its worth it because the quantity is a lot..

★★  This restaurant is owned by Ismailis. It is NOT HALAL. THEY COULD NOT ANSWER BASIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FOOD (OR REFUSED TO). Please remove it from the Halal list.

★★★★  The first time I visited Vancouver my boyfriend brought me to this restaurant. I absolutely loved it! I think that the veggie curry could be hotter but the food is pretty good overal!

★★  I got a cold tea drink and thought that the food was recycled from an older dish, i used to work there and feel that we do that too much, i have left on good terms but fell that this restaurant has worsened in quality, I hope they get better, but i wouldn't go again

★★★★  Not much of a family environment; a bit more formal. Lovely setting, good service and good food. Specify halal for your meals.

★★  "the positive reviews here, i suspect, are ballot-box stuffing by the owners. The lentil soup was excellent. The huge nan bread were the size of elephant ears. But alas, the butter chicken sauce was like thousand island salad dressing and the curry was bland. I cannot recommend it."

★★★★★  "What right does ""Brother in Islam"" have to say that Ismailis are not ""Muslim"". He has not been given the right to judge, who is a muslim and who is not. Save it. The food is Halal and if it is not the sin is on them not you. BTW: The food is fantastic!!"

"Imagine this great menu: Ayat of the Qur'an on the front page and a list of wine on the back page. I completely agree with the brother who said that this restaurant makes a mockery of Islam and Muslims. I was there once and vowed never to go back to this restaurant again. If you care about your deen, stay away from this place."

This restaurant makes a mockery out of Muslims. The owners are Ismaili's, who according to Islamic Shariah are not recognised as being Muslim. When you open the menu's front page, there is an ayat from the Holy Quran. Just below the ayat it states that "Halal is available upon request". Alcohol is served at the premises and the authenticity of the food actually being Halal is in question. I spoke to the owner and asked him a very simple question in a polite manner, "Where do you purchase your meat from?" Unfortunately the owner did not respond! I asked again, but this time explained that I only eat Halal and wish to know if the food is Halal. He then claimed that all the meat is halal but did not specify where he purchases the meat from. I then thanked him for his reply but asked, "If all the meat is Halal why does the menu say 'Halal available upon request'?" Again, he did not answer! This is not a Halal restaurant my dear brothers and sisters in Islam.

★★★★★  "I strongly recommend Samosa Garden Restaurant. When you dine at this restaurant, you truly feel you are at the crossroads of the world. There are people from Malaysia, East Africa, South Asia, Middle East and your average Canadian. The owners are proud of their Muslim heritage and an ayat from the Quran is splendidly displayed in the menu. Families are welcome and this restaurant is a favourite with my children. They love the small fountain near the entrance. The food is tasty and delicious served up with excellent naan breads. The grilled items are tantalizing and are brought sizzling to your table. I have taken many guests and visitors to this restaurant and they have enjoyed themselves. The ambience is superb and the service is good."

★★★★★  Samosa Garden is by far the best East Indian Restaurant I have ever been to in my life. I often visit this restaurant with clients. One downfall is the portions of the meals. You never know what you are going to get - sometimes the size of the halibut steaks are fabulous and sometimes you end up with a 3 inch portion. That is the only inconsistency in this restaurant.

★★★★  "This is a really nice restaurant which has Indian & East African food. They also serve Halal, but you must ask them for it."
