★★★★★ A much better menu with better tasting food and naan at this Pakwan than compared to some competitors in SF. The restaurant is cleaner and better decorated (for a Pakistani-get-your-own-dishes-service kind of place), and the crowds are always present, supporting the deliciously seasoned foods. Probably my favorite Pakistani fare in the bay.

★★★ The first South Asian place we ever ate in when we moved to the City. Carnival like atmoshphere, quick service, good food (yummy nihari). Fuel up here & then go explore the Mission!

★ They refused to make biryani unless we ordered at least 4 plates of it. Next please...

★★★★★ Pakwan in the Mission definitely sets the standard when it comes to authentic Pakistani cuisine in SF. Both SF Pakwans are owned and managed by the same person and thus the signature dishes are reassuringly consistant. Any visit has to involve the chicken tikka masala although experimenting with the daily specials sometimes delivers other gems, such as the traditional haleem or the wonderfully fresh chicken keema, all reasonably priced. Take your friends and get ready to share!

★★★ Food was tasty, but service was not that good. Environment very shaggy and not clean. We were from out of town so our impression on the area was not great.

★★★★★ My very first halal joint I have been to in the city. I loved there chicken and the tomato ocra dish. The daal is superb. Very good.

★★★★ "Living in the Mission district of San Francisco, Pakwan was very welcome as the first halal restaurant in the neighborhood. The restaurant has become extremely popular with the local crowd and is now packed every night of the week. Alcohol is not served but people do bring their own. The naan is excellent, as is the tikka and bihari kabab. Their service can be friendly or really rude, depending on who is behind the counter. You can also order ahead for take-out."

★★★★★ "Pakwan in Tenderloin has closed, for whatever reasons the City won't let them reopen for now. There is a new location in a trendy area in upper Mission district. Same food and menu (Standard Pakistani grill with many varieties of Lahori-style kebobs and entrees, plus tandoori bread), same parking problems, slightly better 'hood, yuppie clientele. Expect prices to rise accordingly."
