★★  While visiting Pittsburgh, we decided to try out this restaurant because the menu on their website seemed appealing and because of the first two reviews. We were DISAPPOINTED. The food is very expensive for the venue and locale and the service is also mediocre. Since we were from out-of-town, we had little choice but to look for another restaurant after driving all the way out there. The samosas were served hot, but were only 50% filled (which is expensive for $2 each veg. samosa at a restaurant). We ordered butter chicken; the chicken wasn't freshly cooked to order and had a lot of red color. The channa masala wasn't flavored properly. Tamarind Savoring India charges full price for drinks (soda/pop), however, they don't even serve the full 12 oz. can and don't offer complementary refills; again, at a charge of $2 for each drink, they offer their client little value. Their naans were hot and freshly made. This restaurant has set it's prices to that of higher-end, full service restaurants, but they lack the quality of food, service and setting to meet that standard.

★★★★★  Best Desi food in Pittsburgh!
Only their Chicken with bone is not halal. Rest is halal. They buy their meat from local Halal butcher in Pittsburgh.
Must try the Shangrilla Chicken and their special Biryani. Pooris are amazing!

★★★★★  The chicken karai is excellent and by the quality of this dish I'm sure the other dishes are good also. It caters to a crowd that includes many non ethnic indians so some flavors are slightly off (from what others have said) - but the food is nevertheless good. One of the best places in Pittsburgh. I was just kind of weirded out that they serve alcohol.
