| | NR Per owner, he gets ALL of his meat from a distributor in Hayward Universal Foods.
Universal Foods - Talked w/ Ahsan, Iranian, at Universal Foods, gets ALL of their beef/lamb from Australia, but he won't tell me which company is the mea tfrom. Meat from Australia is usually halal and very good w/ the exception of a few companies. Ahsan won't tell me which comapny/slaughter house he gets his Chicken from, so i wasn't able to confim its authenticity. WallahuAlam. |

| | ★★★★ Owned by the same people of Berkeley's Turkish Kitchen, this is most definitely a welcome addition to the eating places in Uptown Oakland. The Berkeley one is Halal and I asked two different people about the "halal-ness" of this place, and they assured me that, yes, this place is halal.
It's much smaller than their other place, with only a handful of seats available for patrons, so most people order their food to go.
They have a very extensive menu. I got the 'chicken beyti', which is doner chicken baked in lavash bread and covered with tahini and tomato sauce. Full of flavor and thus, awesome. However, I did try their chicken doner sandwich and it was kind of dry, although it still tasted good. My coworker thought her sandwich was really dry as well. So I may just stick with the non-sandwich items.
Dishes range from about $7-$10. | | |
