★★★ This is one of the original Halal/Arabic restaurants in the Waterloo area. The people are friendly and the newly renovated store is easy on the eyes. I usually take my family and friends here for the chicken shawerma since it is one of the better sandwiches I have had in and around the GTA.
This time I took my family there and tried the buffet for the first time. What a mistake! We should have stuck to the chicken shawerma that we usually get. The food was bland and overly priced. At $14/person we were expecting more than two meat dishes (dehydrated kababs, bland chicken). The buffet consisted mostly of beans and potatoes that tasted the same. The biggest disappointment came from expecting that the food would be almost as good as the Egyptian cuisine I have had at the homes of some of my friends or at other similar Egyptian restaurants.
Bottomline: The shawerma is very good but avoid the buffet.
★★★★ The new shawarma and donair sandwiches in the back are great. You have to have it with the garlic sauce. The tabouli though is not that great. It should be done the LEBANESE WAY man...
