With its bright, contemporary interior, emphasis on good presentation and use of quality ingredients, Dawat is the perfect example of the modern balti house. The food, which is beautifully presented with stylish crockery and cutlery, is made using an imaginative mix of spices to create a memorable taste, while the generous portions make it excellent value for money. The attentive service, welcoming atmosphere and central location with a car park directly opposite, all combine to make a popular restaurant with its fair share of regulars.  Added on November 29, 2009 and last updated 2 years ago

★★★  It's asian food made for English people so it is rather bland - but reasonably tasty but mainly English ppl eat there.

I went to Dawat after a long time after Cinnamon Red had had a fire. The service me and my friend received was appalling. The starter was way to salty and when my boyfriend informed the staff the service we received became very sloppy. The nan bread arrived 5 minutes before our main course and was clearly cold when we started eating. I informed the waiter who said if we hadn't complained earlier then maybe it wouldn't have upset the chef.

We immediately got up, paid, let the manager know how we felt and walked out.

I had been to Dawat before and the food and service was good. Not sure if this was a one off or if standards have fallen in general. I won't be going back to find out.
