| | ★★★★ I heard about this place from other Muslims that have gone. Upon going there, you would not immediately recognize it as a Halal place at all. However, the sister who owns it (Sandra, of course) came out and talked to us and said her food was all halal. Basically, this is straight up African-American soul food. Ribs, collard greens, mashed potatoes w/gravy, sweet potatoes, fried chicken and fish, etc etc. The ribs are quite good, though it seems that some days you get more sauce than other days. I found the chicken and fish a little on the bland side, but still not bad. The side dishes are amazing. However, the very best thing in there is a dessert called the "Jubilee". It is a cake/pudding/fruit/cream combo that blows every other dessert out of the water. If you only go for that, go get one. One last thing, even though there are a few tables, this place is better suited for carry out, unless you like R&B music blasting to the point you can hardly talk while you eat. |
