Browse Peel, Greater Toronto Area
Peel is the gateway to Greater Toronto and indeed Canada, being home to Canada's largest and busiest airport, Toronto Pearson International. The Peel area (which includes the cities of Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville) also holds the distinction of having perhaps the highest concentration of Muslims on the continent. With the diversity comes variety. From the renowned Indian, Bengali, and Caribbean eateries in Brampton to the dozens of Chinese, Arabic, Afghan-Persian and Canadian fast-food (Pizza, Fried Chicken) restaurants in the Mississauga area, Peel has Halal options for everyone. The neighbourhood of Dixie Road and Eglinton Road in Mississauga now has in excess of 20 Halal restaurants. Specialty Halal restaurants, like those offering Italian, Turkish and Thai cuisine, can be found in a number of locations across the region. Increasingly, upscale mainstream restaurants have also begun offering Halal menus on lure in the growing premium Muslim market. National grocery chains in Peel, like Wal-Mart, now routinely partake in Ramadan and Eid celebrations by offering sales on popular Halal food items which they carry in increasing numbers.
