★★☆☆☆ NEW UPDATED REVIEW - October 2013
I agree with some of the recent reviews that the food quality of this place has gone down drastically. We were in Scarborough and dropped in for dinner. The food was absolutely below par and we could not believe that this was the same restauarant. I belive it's fair that I update the original review.
Original Review - Jan 2010
One of the best Hakka Chinese restaurants in the GTA. The spice levels in the food are just about right for the desi palate. Service is extremely quick and efficient. Food portions are generous. Pricing is fair. Posted on October 7, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ The quality and taste of their food has gone down drastically! We had to return one of the dishes because it was disgusting. And the other dish we ordered had old meat that tasted rotten. Avoid this place! Posted on January 7, 2013 |

NR Even if they are providing halaal menu, the alcohol should keep any Muslim even going to this place. And it cannot be trusted. Some ppl do anything for business. Muslims be careful Posted on October 7, 2012 |

★★★★★ I've been to the restaurant Wok with Yu on many occasions and I have never had any problems with the food, services, owner nothing, it is even very clean. No matter what wok with yu is always a good restaurant for halal food. Best place to have a family get together because the restaurant is very spacious and the decor is very beutiful. We have guests from the U.S tonight and they all insist on going to Wok with Yu. Posted on January 19, 2010 |

★★★★★ I've been there twice and never tasted a bad dish. We've had crispy ginger beef, butter chicken, spring rolls, thai soup, chicken balls. chilli chicken, sezchuan rice (this didnt have much flavour actually) etc.
ITS ALLLLLLLLLLLLL GOOD and crispy ginger chicken is the bomb. I'm going today to get soe even though its kinda far from me, which says something for the food - its worth the drive now and then. Its also kinda far from the 401; its past Eglinton, which is annoying, but its worth the drive if you have time.
Its never busy because its probably not as popular as it should be, so thats good and the atmosphere and decor is nice.
*One time the workers got into a really loud argument in the corner which was really unprofessional and I hope they're reading this so that they can avoid doing it in the future. It was a male and female. You guys kinda killed the experience for us. And during the argument the girl actually said "I DONT CARE IF I'M GETTING LOUD"*
Anyways, good food, totally go. Posted on August 31, 2009 |

★★★★★ Wow...soem of you Muslims need to back off. Just because a restraunt serves alcohol doesnt make it non-halal. Have any of you ever considered that maybe they also cater to non-muslims? If you don't liek alcohol, dont drink it then. the owner is not putting a gun to your head. Easy as pie. The foods still halal so dont go insulting the restraunt if you don't liek the booze. Eat the food and accept that the restraunt also caters to other religions. Sheesh. Posted on April 16, 2008 |

★★★★★ The food here is great. Decor is good and overall the resuarant is very clean. If youre entertaining guests or family friends or even office mates this is a good place to go without being embarassed. There is a halal sign on the window. The owner Peter is from karachi and is a very decent gentleman. Posted on November 14, 2007 |

★☆☆☆☆ i am sure he is not providing halal food any more, because when i asked some question, he said i can't give you the answers.so it is my advised avoid anything to eat from that restaurant, and i believe mostly chines restaurant are not providing proper halal food they just put sign for halal to attract Muslim community.so please don't eat any thing if you are not sure. ★★★☆☆ This restaurant touts itself as "Indian Hakka Chinese" but I found what was on offer fairly bland. Granted, I only had the lunch special - hot and sour soup and shrimp curry over rice. The curry was pretty generic - no inspired masala, not much spice. The hot and sour soup was a bright red that I suspected was due to a heavy dose of red food coloring that I'd rather avoid. I specifically asked for no MSG and don't think there was any in my food - but there may be in other dishes as Wok with Yu does not say that it is an MSG-free restaurant.
It doesn't bother me to eat at a restaurant that serves alcohol as it is my understanding that even under Muslim rule non-Muslims were allowed their food and drink - but the fact that there is a neon Budweiser sign in Wok with Yu's window right next to the stenciled on halal sign and that the tables are "decorated" with table mats featuring recipes for alcoholic cocktails may turn many Muslims off. There is however, no pork on the menu - so you don't have to worry about that and of course the meat they do have is halal.
The restaurant's decor is standard Chinese - red everywhere. Not an upscale place but not a pit either. Despite the very Chinese decor they pipe in filmi music. When I was there several South Asian customers came and went. The service was very prompt - almost too prompt, as I was looking forward to relaxing a bit after shopping, but my food came after just a few minutes, then my bill was produced just as soon as the waitress thought I had finished. Felt a little like I was being rushed though, the waitress was very friendly.
I would not go out of my way to go to this restaurant. If I'm shopping in the area again, I'd consider it, as my food was uninteresting but unobjectionable and very cheap ($5 for the lunch special). The restaurant delivers (for orders of $15 and above), but again, I can't see myself ordering from them. Posted on April 26, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ The food is alright here, nothing spectacular. Soups were not the best. This LLBO so use at own discretion. I would reccomend Lucky's or Chopsticks as I PERSONALLY think that the taste of the food is not the greatest. Posted on February 10, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ Their food is good but the chicken tastes a bit weird. and they have one thing that most of the halal chinese resturants in toronto don't have... they have home delivery!!!!. It is a bit expensive if indiviadully is ordered but their lunch and dinner combos are pretty cheap. Posted on November 29, 2004 |

I love it.. selling the alcohol doesn't mean that it's not Halal.. the owner is not the Muslim but he has lived in Pakistan Posted on November 24, 2004 |

★★★★★ I went to this place in the summer of 2003. Food is to DIE FOR. Well not Die for but, Courteous Staff and a Gastronomic Menu is quite the crowd puller. Halal menu till the end. I dont like the Alcohol served, it does effect the Image they want to portray. Over All WOk WITh YOu is an Excellent Restaurant. Posted on October 1, 2003 |
