NR No longer there Posted on June 7, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ Sham... My family and everyone used to eat from Sham since it was near by. I do not remember the food but i remember going there. So anyways one day my close friend went there and out of curiosity he asked an employee if the food was Zabiha Halal. They replied No. They said when they ran out of Halal meat they whent to the local Von's an bought meat and served it there. My friend alerted us and we all stopped going. Now we heard that once again they are Halal, but i wouldnt take a chance, since they told us they were serving Zabiha when they were serving Haraam. Posted on July 9, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ Just ate there last Sat. night, food was ok, kida bland. Took over an hour to get the food after we placed our order....chef complained that he was the only one there so he had to do all the work. Service was slow and poor. The decor was nice but place was pretty small so you might have to wait outside if it gets crowded. Posted on June 16, 2009 |

★★★★☆ Food is really good and well cooked, however a little pricey. The set-up is decent but a little to tight, when it gets crowded it can feel you are sitting to close to other parties. The service is okay, but could of been better. It has a great location so if you at the Promenade or Santa Monica beach/pier you might want to drop by. Posted on April 30, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I've eaten at Sham a few times since moving to LA and each time the food just gets better and better. Best of all, during Ramadan, they provide a full course buffet consisting of drinks, soups, salads, meat and chicken dishes and desserts. Portions are huge, food is tasty and prices are very reasonable. It's about the only mediterranean restaurant in this side of LA that offers a FULL HALAL menu! I made sure to verify this with the owners. Check it out, you won't be disappointed! Service is attentive and location and ambience are all great! Posted on September 7, 2008 |

NR I just spoke to the owner, at first he got offended that I'm asking him this, then he assured me that everything is zabihah halal except for the Gyro... I asked doesn't the Gyro oil mix with other stuff on the grill and the knife... etc... he said NO. Personally, owning a restaurant, it is very very difficult to keep things seperate... but your decision, I will personally go there and check it out before I eat there. Posted on June 26, 2008 |

★★★★☆ Mash'Allah. This restaurant is delicious, I don't know what else I can say. Every time we come down to LA we eat dinner here. It is also nice that they are open fairly late. The service is usually average; not bad, not exceptional. Posted on May 14, 2008 |

★★★★☆ I was travelling around the United States and LA was my first stop. I had read about this place on zabihah and as it was the closest halal restuarant to my hotel, I had to try it. The food was really good. The portions were huge but I later found out from other dining experiences that this is an American thing. The meals also come with two sides which I had not know about until the waiter asked me to choose the sides so which made it very good value for money. I had to have more than half of my meal packed because there was no way I could finish everything (despite the fact that they forgot to give me one of the sides). I was a bit surprised when the waiter brought the empty containers over to get me to pack the leftovers myself but its no biggie. The service was friendly and I didnt have to wait for very long. ★☆☆☆☆ Its Ramadan. I am hungry, have a 4 month old with me. We seat ourselves, with 2 dates on the table. 10 minutes later, not one waiter has approached us to take our order. Its time to break fast and we do so with the 2 dates there. We try to get the attention of a waiter and he says that he will be there shortly. Another 15 min go by still no service. 25 minutes later he asks us if we want the buffet. We tell him that we want the Beef Shawarmas and for appetizers a plate of Humus a coke and a water.
20 minutes later, we had to get their attention one more time to ask for our water and hummus and appetizer which should have come out first. 7:40pm our food comes out and when we bite into it, its Chicken not beef, what I had ordered. My 4 month old is getting impatient and is crying. So we hurry up and finish whatever we had and then wanted the bill, but even that required me to get up and go up to the register to tell them we have a crying baby and need to leave.
HORRIBLE SERVICE. Event the shwermas were the size of $0.69 bean burritos that you find at taco bell. Expensive, food is whatever, services stinks especially in Ramadan. Definitely will not go there again. I also noticed that we were the only people of color there. Everyone else got their food and we had to urge them to serve us. Even though we were there before some of them.
That is why Muslim businesses are not very successful. LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. Posted on October 6, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ Absolutely nothing special. Not worth the price. The fillet mignon was tough and inconsistently cooked. The chicken was good, the beef/lamb tasted nasty. The rice was much worse than I could make at home. Posted on September 28, 2007 |

★★★★☆ I asked the server, and she said the food is zabihah halal. I liked there food; interrior was neat and well decorated.
Con: Not all the items on the menu were available. Posted on September 27, 2007 |

★★★★★ I really like this place. It's a short walk from the 3rd street promenade. Food is good, a bit pricy but not that expensive either. Posted on September 11, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ I had the food delivered and it was pretty good. The garlic sauce is amazing and so is the hummus. I love the fact that they do delivery. Posted on May 27, 2007 |

★★★★★ I saw someone saying the food is non-zabihah... Well, if you visit their website above it will assure you that there meat is zabihah, and the menus varify also. I found the service very friendly and the atmosphere is beautiful in a gorgeous neighborhood that will make for a nice after dinner walk. Although I must say the food is a little pricey and like someone said it has a very "homecooked" feel to it... So, if you are from belad al-sham, save yourself the effort and just eat your mom's food. :) Overall, highly reccomended! Posted on April 29, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ Its OK. Food is decent, ambience is nice, but it can definitely get crowded. Pricing is expensive and the service absolutely needs to be improved. They only have one waiter/waitress per 50 or so. Posted on March 31, 2007 |

★★★★★ "This place was great. The food was really authentic and fresh. The service is good also, very friendly. Shawerma sandwich is a bit skimmpy, you'll probalby want to order two if you're hungry. But the flavor is good. Try the fatayir and the kabobs also. " Posted on January 2, 2003 |

★★★★★ Great Halal place on the West Side. I went with some American friends and all of us enjoyed the food. Especially, the Shawarma items are great. Posted on June 10, 2002 |

★★★★★ This establishment has excellent mediterranean cuisine that also bakes their own bread daily. What I like most, is that the food has a ""home cooked"" taste and its very large portions is a plus! Posted on April 4, 2002 |
