★★★★★ Desi Eh
Lahori food comes to Mississauga!
I have tried many desi, specifically Pakistani restaurants in Mississauga and every time I come back shaking my head. The delicious flavors back home are hard to forget and even harder to replicate in a foreign land, where everything is hard to come by; from expertise and spices to ambiance and flavor.
Then came Desi Eh. Carrying with it the flavorful journey of Pakistan - from Multan to Lahore - the real taste actually comes through here! Their chicken karahi is a combination of fresh in-house made spices with lots of herbs leaving you wanting more with each bite. The 'naans' are made the Lahori way, crispy - fluffy and perfect for the chicken karahi as well as Lahore style chikarr cholay. Channay that will take you back to the streets of inner Lahore - gawal mandi and the likes. I also tried the chicken tandoori, which is their take on chicken tikka with balanced spices and scrumptious taste.
They also serve dessert the desi, Pakistani way! Creamy kheer, firni (rice pudding), and Gajrela (rice and carrot pudding) . Desi Eh might just take you back to your mom's kitchen back home.
So Mississauga, gear up!! Real Pakistani food is finally here!
Drooling while writing about all of this means only one thing - I am going again next week! Posted on October 4, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ This place is run by same people who own Kara Mia.
This place uses the same location and kitchen as of Kara Mia.
Kara Mia had/has its own problems; lack of taste, old food taste, poorly cooked, or over cooked items.
I spent more than $130 for three items: Chicken Karai (boneless), Chicken Dhaba, and their kabab family package:
Both Chicken had raw-frozen chicken taste; either undercooked or plainly old frozen chicken.
Kabobs were so soft that they were breaking while being picked up.
Their nan, expensive but tasty.
Their Dhahi Puri and Dhahi Chat was good appetizer. But they have quality issue. One time it was nice, recent time it was all saggy and over done.
Still bad experience after trying three times. Posted on June 6, 2015 |
