★★★☆☆ Well, they are new, they are trying hard to please, but we went there on S aturday evening, the place was empty me and my wife were the only customers, may be for a reason, one guy takes the order prepare the food and basically do every thing, rice was served to us cold, meat was just warm and very dry, so service OK, food below average, I think it will be hard for the to break in in competitive DC kabob market, as of me that was my first and God will the last visit to Nessma cafe. ★★★★★ We saw this restaurant along Route 7 and decided to stop by. Apparently it opened recently, in early 2009.
The food here was delicious. We ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a steak & cheese sandwich. The chicken shawarma was very juicy and tasty, and definitely better than any other chicken shawarmas I've had in the D.C. area. The steak & cheese was actually the best I've ever had outside of Philly.
The decor is simple and elegant. You can sit either inside or outside, and the place has a very nice airy feel to it. They make the food right in front of you. The owner is very hospitable too. He stopped by our table to say salam and see if we needed anything.
We didn't try anything else on the menu, but they have basically every type of Middle Eastern dish you can think of. If you go there, there's also a nice juice/smoothie place in the same plaza, which can be nice after the meal there. Posted on April 26, 2009 |
