★★★☆☆ Located in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, so it isn't the "safest" or "cleanest" place in the city (surrounded by abandoned buildings). Food was good, and service was excellent. However the place is too small and its location leaves much to be desired. Hours are not stable (open and close at will). Food was halal and prepared right in front of you (he'll show you the packaging). Good place to go if you are feeling "adventurous" but I wouldn't go out of the way to eat here. ★★★★☆ Off the beaten back in the Hill District but street parking is easy.
Simple menu.
Agree with previous commenter about bland hamburgers. We ordered both the Heinz and Big Al burgers...well cooked but just no taste.
Chicken is fresh and was very good.
Can't comment on the fish but while waiting for food, I think every customer who walked in (~5-6) ordered either the fish or monster fish sandwich...must try next time. Posted on August 22, 2013 |

★★★★★ Visited while visiting Pittsburgh. Few miles from downtown. It is an "American Dhaba" (hole in the wall). If you feel envious that you cannot order meats at IHOP then this is your answer. The Club sandwiches (turkey/ fried chicken) were excellent. The burgers were made from fresh meat, but bland and over done. The steak that was cooking for someone else looked great and was sliced from a fresh piece of meat. The price was decent for the qty of food, but it does not reflect the condition of the place. Do not expect luxury, but do expect good american food, which happens to be halal. Posted on May 27, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Went there on Friday at 1:30 PM. Had called ahead of time earlier in the morning and was told the hours were till 5:30 PM that day. Arrived at the location (location is definitely in the ghetto) and while the "Open" sign was on, the door was locked. A gentleman waiting in his car told me that they had gone for Friday prayer and would arrive back at 2:00 PM. Figured I'd wait till 2:00, since the reviews were excellent.
We waited in our car till 2:00 PM, during which time numerous customers came and knocked on the door only to be turned away b/c it was closed. We waited till 2:15 PM... and eventually decided to leave b/c we were hungry and had wasted nearly an hour in the car while the owners were out.
I understand and respect the decision to go for prayer, but we should have been informed ahead of time when we called. Furthermore, a sign should be placed on the door stating so. To leave the "Open" sign on and to lose at least 4 car-fulls worth of customers due to poor business practice is inexcusable.
This rating has nothing to do w/ the food; I'm sure it is excellent, however we did not get to sample it for ourselves due to very poor business practice. Posted on December 23, 2012 |

★★★★★ This place is amazing like a diamond among rocks (considering the location anyway). We did go with family but did not feel unsafe as we went early morning to have breakfast. They were very nice about ordering anything off the menu (not just breakfast items). We had the Big Al's Burger which was mouthwatering, the philly cheesesteak (which was not the best thing but edible) and a regular burger. The prices are good, the service quick, good portions and we loved the diner vibe and loved that it was open kitchen. Posted on December 9, 2012 |

★★★★★ The food is fresh, made right before my eyes from scratch! The neighborhood is a run down and the place is like an old diner, not the best for a family so I suggest to order ahead to pick up. A little on the expensive side but worth your penny. Real american food that I definitely (Inshallah) will be returning to. Posted on December 2, 2012 |

★★★★☆ We went to this place for lunch and ordered philly cheese steak and Big Al burger. Both were pretty good. they came with alot of fries. we had to pay extra for the drinks. total was approx $10 per person. Both items are highly recommended.
Now the cons. the location is not good at all. I think the place is only open during weekdays for lunch mostly and they close early. interior is quite small and poor. not recommended for families. this place is owned by muslims and they dont really like it if you ask them whether the food is halaal or not...
Overall it was a nice experience, we will definately go back for more Posted on September 14, 2012 |

★★★★★ Alhumdillah Zabihah.com provided us with this fantastic restaurant. It isn't the best place to have a sitdown dinner but the food definitely makes up for that!
The Philly Cheesesteak tastes as good as the restaurants in Philadelphia. The foods are of good portions.
I would definitely recommend coming here. Great American-style food! Posted on July 8, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I Ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich which was Average. Neighborhood was a little run down, i wont suggest going there with the family in the evening. When i called in before heading that way from the airport and asked if they are open, the guy on the other side said why would he answer the phone if they are not open. Once i was there, i asked him if everything was Halal and he gave me a look as if i asked a stupid question and after a pause he said this is a Muslim restaurant....i felt he could have shown a little better customer service both times. ★★★☆☆ Stopped in Pittsburgh just to go to this place: but it is closed on Sunday. In a very historical historically black neighborhood with a lot of interesting architecture. Would love to go back, eat at the place, and explore the area iA. Posted on December 29, 2011 |

★★★★★ Awesome food. Ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich which was out of this world. Generous portions too. Will definitely go back there. Keep up the good work brother. Posted on September 29, 2011 |

★★★★★ Great food!! Everything is good and even the people who work there are such nice people. The only bad part is that they close around 6 and it is always packed but it is still a great place to go to Posted on August 13, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Hard working Muslim Brothers. Not the best neighborhood but good food. Good fried chicken and philly cheesesteak. Posted on June 19, 2011 |

★★★★★ Conveniently close to ICP. My wife and I went here with friends who strongly recommended it. We were not disappointed! We got cheese steak and chicken club sandwiches, which we then brought to a picnic outside. Both were excellent. The food is cooked to order, so leave yourself some time to wait or call ahead. ★★★★★ This place is great! The food is amazing, the people are great and the prices are very good for the quality and amount you get. The Heinz burger is great, and I recommend the chicken club and Philly cheese steak because they are amazing. Try it out, the food is awesome and unique for halal food in pittsburgh. This is not the best place to go to for sitting and eating with a family, because of the small size, but that being said, if you call 15min before for an order, take out is fast and great! ★★★☆☆ We tried a bunch of items here and let me break down this review into pros and cons:
PROS:
1) Halal American burgers of average taste.
2)Phily Beef and Chicken Steak Burgers were good.
3)Courteous Staff (at least one of them)
CONS:
1) Place not very well kept. Neighborhood of questionable safety. Rest room leaves a lot to be desired!
2)We felt it is not suitable for a family to visit. Consider Taking Food Out!
3)Expensive for the atmosphere e.g. a regular burger is around $9
4) Big Al's Burger is very bland. Cant speak about Heinz Burger. Posted on January 25, 2011 |

★★★★★ This place was great! Allahu Akbar! May Allah reward them in this life as well as the next for providing the ummah with Halal food that is so familiar to us here in the US! The burgers were wonderful but Subhanna'allah, the iced tea is FANTASTIC! Everything we had was great Masha'allah! I thank Allah ta' ala for Zabihah.com for providing this website to us. They have never let us down Masha'allah. Posted on January 6, 2011 |

★★★★★ We tried the Big Al and the Heinz Burgers; both were amazingm - homemade patties with tons of flavor and big enough to fill a plate. The seasoned fries were also delicious. The service is great, decor is classic diner style, and the brothers are upbeat and helpful. They also have some homemade sweet tea made by a local sister - I don't usually like ice tea/sweet tea but I was wishing later that I could have bought a gallon of this stuff. ★★★★☆ The food here was great and the people were very friendly and courteous. I came here with my brother and we had the Heinz burger and the Big Al burger. Both were really tasty and came with really good fries as well, which normally are just an afterthought at restaurants. I definitely plan on coming back for the official grand opening this Friday to try out all the other stuff on their menu. I thought some of their burgers were a bit on the pricey end though, so it'd be tough to make this like an everyday lunch option for me at least, but they say they're still in the process of figuring out the right pricing for everything so they may change in the near future. Overall I was really happy with the experience - it's so nice to have good, halaal american food in Pittsburgh now! Posted on March 30, 2010 |

★★★★★ The Big Al Burger was excellent! I need to try their Heinz Burger next time. Ahmad's Monster sounds interesting too, although I'm not a huge fan of fish when I can have other meat served at a halal restaurant :). Posted on March 30, 2010 |
