★☆☆☆☆ I decided to visit this establishment based on the previous reviews. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed. Firstly, the ambience is like a school cafeteria and very smoky, they really need to work on the ventilation. Secondly, service is quite poor and disorganized. We waited about 40 min for food to be served and water was never offered. When the food did arrive, no water was given so we had to ask. The guy working there appeared to be depressed or in a bad mad, he was barely audible and mumbled when he spoke. 8 used a groupon which covered most of the bill but I still wanted to tip seeing how this is a Muslim establishment but the machine wouldn't let me. So I asked the guy to enter the tip amount plus whatever was owing into the debit machine, he appeared to be annoyed and didn't say a word after entering the amount. After paying he didn't even thank me. Maybe he doesn't know what a tip is and has no idea how to respond to a patron. Before leaving we asked for another glass of water, we waited for 10 min then left as he didn't deliver it. What a disgrace. I believe the local Morrocan community is starved for food from back home and is settling in this exceptional piece of mediocrity. Take my word, you can do better. Posted on February 18, 2014 |

★★★★★ I was told about this restaurant by a co-worker so i have decided to try it out since halal restaurants are very limited in Calgary and we wanted something different than what we usually have. We were a group of 9 people and were conveniently seated as the place is designed to host large group. The owner recommended to try a mixture of middle eastern food (Kabab) and some moroccan dishes so we ordered 2 family platters, coscous and tajines, the servings were generous and filling.
The couscos was a bit different for me as i am trying this for the first time even thought some of my family members loved but for me the Kabab was mouth watering and flavourful, the tajines which are very similar to curries were amazing and mash'allah just delicious i do however thing that the Tajine portion should be a little bit bigger.
The moroccan mint tea is a MUST
our bill came to about $170 which i think its an excellent and affordable price for a group of 9 people.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to enjoy a family friendly and alcohol free place.
May ALLAH give them prosperity Posted on January 14, 2014 |

★★★★☆ MashAllah! Finally, a Moroccan place that is not selling booze. Alhamdullilah! May Allah increase this business and their owners.
I went there on Nov 9th, (a day after they opened). I shared 4 wonderful dishes with 2 friends.
First up, Harira. This simple soup is a staple dish in Morocco during Ramandan. These guys did it right, and the chef is a Marrakchi, therefore things are being made authentically.
The Lamb Couscous was excellent with enough extra sauce for everyone. I prefer the smaller couscous grains, but this one was tasting traditional with the medium grain. A dish that is big enough to share with 2 or 3 people.
Next was the Mixed Platter. Standard brochettes (kebabs) of Chicken, Filet Mignon, Kafta and Murquez (sausage). All of the meat was seasoned well and had great flavour.
Chicken with Pickled Lemon. This is a beautiful tajine that is made for batbout or bread. The only thing missing was large green olives, but to the Chef's admission, he has not found a supplier for an olive he likes yet.
Capping it all of Moroccan Mint Tea. Again no complaints here.
I give this place 4 out of 5, why after such great comments? They still have room to grow and improve their offering as time goes by. Plus only my wife gets 5 stars for Moroccan food. :D
Please try this place out. I hope you'll be impressed as I was.
I eat moroccan food at home and when I am visiting in-laws, therefore this review is credible. Posted on November 10, 2013 |
