★☆☆☆☆ I'm passing this information onto those I hope may be able to affect some change in this situation and other similar situations.
This was my experience on 5/22/15:
I've been going to JJ's Gourmet Burgers about once a month for many years. Something happened today that made me pledge to NEVER EVER go back again. It has nothing to do with the food.
I've witnessed this owner be short and less than courteous with his counter employees numerous times. As a result it appears he experiences a large turn over in employees.
I found he DOES NOT share the tips in the "TIP" jar with his employees. I was trying to get change for a 5 to leave a tip when the girl waiting the counter whispered to me that he doesn't share the tips with employees. I told her I wanted a refund. When the owner got to the counter I asked him directly if he keeps all the tips and doesn't share them with the employees. He confirmed that he does keep all the tips. Then I asked the girl how much she made an hour. She said $11/hr. I told him that I will never be coming back again and that he should be ashamed of his behavior. Posted on May 22, 2015
★★★★☆ Good burgers. Separate halal menu. Knowledgable of what halal is. Toppings bar. Option of milkshake vs soda for combo meal at same price. Open for lunch Monday through Friday till 2:30. It's on the first level of the Columbia square building. Nice public eating area and very friendly staff. Recommend you check it out. Posted on May 6, 2014
★★★★☆ Decent quality burgers available on Ciabatta bread. The toppings bar makes all the difference. Jalapeno, shredded lettuce and multiple sauces. Posted on July 8, 2008
