★★☆☆☆ I was there two weeks back the food quality has gone down significantly, I am from the Baltimore area and food was good initially but I was there last year food was bad, I did not go to the restaurant for 8 months, I decided to try again but again food quality was ok, food presentation was horrible we order mangolian beef and orange chicken, beef was not tender. ★★★★★ I went to QingZhen last week with a couple of colleagues for lunch and am now going crazy posting reviews about this place cuz people really need to go try it. Wow! What an experience. I walked in expecting traditional Chinese food, instead we all got a treat.
QingZhen is a Pakistani-Chinese fusion restaurant or Indo-Pak Chinese (as I was told) that is catering to the palates of people who either 1) eat only "halal" food (learned about this while I was there and talking to the owner - super sweet gentleman) or 2) are willing to give new fusion dishes a try. Since I am one of the latter, this place was awesome for me.
Like I said, we went for lunch around noon to a quaint little restaurant, subtly decorated - nothing over the top. There was a hot buffet going with about a total of 15 dishes - rice, dumplings, rolls, curries, etc. It all looked really nice and fresh. The best was that they had a variety in the dishes - vegetarian (vegetables and tofu), chicken, and beef. They also had two soups - chicken corn (it was decent) and hot and sour (Yummm).
I tried the beef and broccoli, emerald curry (yes, they had a bit of Thai mixed in there - but I kind of liked that), and a dish called chicken manchurian. OMG - what a taste. The owner boasted when we were talking to him, that we may get ruined for regular Chinese food after we try his food, and I must say, I think he may have just met that challenge as far as I was concerned. The food was a perfect blend of sauce and meat - not like a lot of Chinese places that either have dried up sauces or really watery ones. Instead, each dish we all tried had a perfect balance of everything - sauce, meat, spice, etc. The thing I loved was what gave this place its fusion touch - the wonderful pakistani spices. The perfect example of this was the chicken manchurian and chili tofu - they both packed a punch of hot and spicy that made my tastebuds sing. Definitely not something you will find at your corner Chinese place.
Neither I, nor my coworkers, had any complaints - not about the food nor about the service. The price at $7.99 a head was reasonable too. I will definitely be going back soon and taking others with me! Posted on February 2, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ We visited this restaurant several times. It's run by the brother who owns Shahi Grill. The chilli chicken was good but not their chilli beef...it was tough and chewy. The food was spicy. The soups were not very nice. It is a local Chinese fusion halal resturant and so I'd recommend visiting and sampling different things from their menu to see what you like. They also include gratuity in their bill before applying sales tax. Posted on August 18, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ Horrible food, too spicy, blended taste if you ever had Chinese in Pakistan or another US Halal Chinese place like Jamila’s in TX think twice before going there. We were disappointed, same was with my friends and there families. The place need a new cook who knows what chinesses food taste like. Reasonable prices is just a joke and the size of the portions is like kids meal. Posted on April 3, 2011 |

★★★★★ Excellent food, economical prices, and great service - that pretty much sums it all. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times with family and have always come out happy and full. The staff is pretty attentive, service is fast, and the food is extremely delicious. I strongly recommend the black pepper beef and shrimp in hot garlic sauce. I give this place an A++. ★★★★★ I was really impressed with the food and atmosphere at QingZhen...family friendly and clean. The soups and the entrees I had tried, all were delicious. The dish I liked most was the Pepper Beef..just the right amount of spices amd melt-in-the-mouth meat. Other places have a little gaminess in their beef dishes but at QZ, it was just right!! Definitely a place I would come back to!! Posted on March 6, 2011 |

★★★★★ I cant eat regular Chinese food again. The food was amazing. They made food not too spicy for my daughter and the waitress was very attentive to all of our needs. The owners made sure they meet everyone in the restaurant and thanked you for coming in. I cant wait to go back again and again and again. Posted on February 22, 2011 |

★★★★★ This is by far the best Chinese restaurant I have been to. The service is great and the staff is friendly including the manager who takes his time to make recommendations and suggestions and to ensure everything is up to par. Now as for the food it is simply superb. All of the things I have tried off the menu have been a pleasant surprise, way above expectations. Some of the things I would highly highly highly recommend:
Appetizers:
- Chicken Rolls. I don't know what they put in these things but they are yummy and addictive. I asked the manager and he told me they are made from scratch.
- Chicken on a stick. I forgot the "official" name for these things but you get the idea. Very very tasty.
Main Course:
- Black Pepper Beef. This is by far the most delicious and my favorite dish. Please please please order it with plain rice and not vegetable. Vegetable rice totally kills the taste. The plain rice brings out the taste of the sauce and accents it in such a way that it totally melts in your mouth. One order will fill two people up as it did my brother and I.
- Chicken Chili. Great chicken with chili sauce a must try for any chicken and/or chili lover.
- Manchurian Chicken. Yet another tasty traditional Chinese dish.
P.s: I have never never, in my life, have ever written a review for anything and I have bought a ton of stuff online through out many years. I came out of my slumber to review this restaurant! I think....enough said. Posted on February 7, 2011 |

★★★★★ This is an absolutely amazing restaurant. My muslims friends took me there and me being chinese was intrigued by its existence. At first I was a little scared as to what the fusion between Asian and Chinese food will turn out to be but i must say, it was simply superb.
The atmosphere was spectacular, the staff was friendly, the manager gave personal attention to each table and the food was just delicious!
whether you eat halal food or not, this restaurant is a must!!!
happy new year you all! Posted on February 3, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Very Clean and nicely decorated.
Owner(s) and staff are very friendly and engaging
No buffet even though it stated that there was one on their website
Food presentation was nice and neat
Overall the food was very bland, not much flavor.
I am hoping that they will improve the flavor and get a buffet, it will be sad to lose another Halal chinese restaurant in Baltimore! Posted on January 26, 2011 |
