★★☆☆☆ We ordered a lunch combon, a chicken wrap and a chicken roll. The food was OK - nothing great.
But the service was TERRIBLE. The soap dispenser in the rest room was not working - there was liquid in the container but it would not get dispensed. When I told the guy in charge, he shrugged away and described me a way to get the soap directly from the dispenser by putting my finger in it!! Though I made it clear that that was not a good solution to me, he made NO attempt at all to address my concern. Posted on January 2, 2015 |

★★★★☆ We went here two days in a row. The food was beyond good. I think the owner makes it himself. The owner had some issues at home when we visited, so we did not get my "faluda". Even though I thought this was a little odd, now I understand why this part is important to the quality. This is not your "E-myth" type store, like McDonalds! The owners daughter came to work the second day I visited.
This business makes food from the heart. If you expect that, then go.
Also, the place is self service. The tea is tasty and beyond hot.
The bathroom light is hard to find. On the right when you enter, but a little lower then you expect. Lol. Bathroom is cleaner than a place like this would have. It even smelled clean.
On the way there (to the bathroom), you may notice piles of charcoal bags. These will get you salivating for the food - like they did me. LOL. Yes, everything is cooked with charcoals.
The kabobs are out of this world.
The price is good if you are from this area. But, if you are from Katmandu, it might be more than you expect.
Go to this place if you like the food more than the decor or the service, even though the service is top notch!
Daawat is the best in the area! Posted on March 15, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ It's nothing special. Sometimes, it's a bit heavy and greasy. But it does the job, I suppose. I doubt I'll be going back there, since there are too many to choose from out here. Posted on September 18, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ MY husband and I we been going to this place for awhile. I love eating there food for me it was good. I do love the chicken tikka or tandoori. We always order chicken tikka biryani if we have a party to go all my friends love it. Posted on May 23, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ We used to often frequent this restaurant .They used to have a somewhat palatable food compared to a lot of other halal places who seem to hold you hostage for supplying halal menu.
However, on my last visit food was improperly heated. We had ordered biryani which looked like some uncooked mutton, lots of salt, oil and red chilly tossed together like a salad. Their other dishes defied regular taste. For example, their karhai mutton was more like the watery version of SouthIndian dish called sukkha gosht and mutton jerky. The rest of dishes reflected these recipe innovations. The only thing common was a common theme of large amount of salt and red chile combined with medium rare cooking technique did explain the presence of toothpick at the counter. When we complained, the owner implied we were lying to him and further suggested that we did know what we were talking about. This place an absolute must for your toothpicking experience. No comments on the 'morning after effect.' Posted on November 24, 2008 |

★★★★★ I have been going to Daawat for the last 2 years. Everytime the food was amazing. recently I go there once a week and take-out food for 2-3 days. I have also got food catered from them for get-togethers at home and everyone just loved the food.
The service is also good and staff is friendly.
I got a bunch of my friends as well from Peninsula over to the restaurant (long drive) and they said the drive was worth it. Posted on October 5, 2008 |

★★★★★ Good food. We catered the food for my son't first birthday and the food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed it.
I always enjoy going there. The management is nice and friendly. Also, I love their falooda. I always have one when I go there. Posted on July 16, 2008 |

★★★★★ Went to Daawat on my anniversary two years ago and have been eating there ever since. Absolutely love their garlin naans, biryani and achari ghosht although everything else that I have tried is also delicious. Owners are very friendly and it feels like home when I am there. I can say without any hesitation that their biryani is the best I have ever had anywhere. Everyone who were recommended Daawat by me also loved their food. Absolutely love their food, service and attitude. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Complimentary tea is served free. Their green sauce is incomparable. If you do not always carry cash like me, dont worry, they accept ATMs and major credit cards as well.
They get a five star rating from me that they have earned in the last two years. Posted on January 13, 2008 |

★★★★☆ Have been here a few times and the food is pretty good. The Tandoori Chicken leg piece is very good and so is the mango lassi! The owner's are very friendly. Also good to note that they take credit card, so you dont have to worry about going to the ATM machine before going out to eat, like most Pakistani places, who only take cash! ★★★★★ I discovered Daawat little over a year and a half ago. Now I eat there almost 3 times a week. Sometimes 4. It has never disappointed me.
The food is authentic. Tastes exactly like it does back home. The portions are generous. The ambiance is great. I love the tea and Paan. Naans are unbeatable. The service is fast.
Most of all, I enjoy the friendliness and courtesy of the owners. They are great and always find time to have a little chit chat.
My favorite dishes are: Nihrai, Bihari Kababs, and beef roll.
I definitely recommend Daawat to anyone who is looking for a genuine experience of authentic Pakistani food. Posted on October 11, 2006 |

★★★★★ The food is simply excellent! Some of my favorite dishes are bihari kabob, chicken biryani, chana daal, mirchi salaan, paya. Don't forget to try their falooda and they also have pan. They accept all major credit cards, and the food quality is consistant. I will definitely go there again. Posted on October 11, 2006 |

★★★★★ Best restaurant in the Bay Area for Pakistani/Indian food. The mirchi salan is awesome. Chicken tikka and reshami kebab are excellent. I would also recommend their achar chicken and chicken biryani. I travel all the way from San Jose every week to eat here. Posted on October 8, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ I also went there after reading such nice reviews about this place. My first visit was good. Smiling faces, quick service and all. But the last few visits made me to change my mind about this place. Owner seems to be getting more like the other paki/Ind restaurants where once they know that their food is good, they don't care about their customers. I went here with a friend of mine and as soon as we reached the desk to order, the owner went ahead and answered the phone, and started taking orders. He did not even have the courtesy to excuse himself!!! We waited for a couple of mins till he was done. Service was really slow. We waited for another half an hour. Tables were all messy. It was not cleaned after the other customers left. Three to four tables were left to be cleaned. Food was just average. I can get better at other restaurants with a better service. I am not going back there again... Thank you!!! Posted on October 6, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ I went to this place after reading so many positive reviews on Zabihah.com. I was in the bay area for few days & we tried a number of restaurants. Sorry to say, but this place wasn't really upto the mark. We ordered reshmi kababs & bhuna gosht. Gosht was not properly cooked. The meat wouldn't separate from the bones. Reshmi kabas were strictly OK. We had a bad experience, but hopefully other people can either avoid it, or make sure in advance everything is properly prepared. Posted on September 8, 2006 |

★★★★★ This is a very good place and they deserve to be on the top of the list. The service and food is good. They have a lunch combo of great value to people working in the area. Even my company they are not Muslims, many people used to have lunch there and they cater food from there. This shows that by providing good service at reasonable prices, you gain more. Hope they keep the good work. Posted on November 19, 2005 |

★★★★★ Awesome place! Masha'Allah, keep it up!
The food is wayyyyy better than the competitors (e.g., shalimar, pakwan, etc). I always go here. They also serve you the food (with a smile)! All major credit cards are also accepted (another plus over the competitors). Quality is consistent and portion size is perfect! Posted on March 31, 2005 |

★★★★★ These brothers begin their day at the restaurant with Qu'ran blasting on the speakers; they've offered to give me free food, the days where I would leave my credit card in the car-- The place is VERY clean, and the food is excellent. Tandoori Boti pieces, Seekh Kabob and Lamb chops are excellently done. For these reasons I rank it much higher than Shalimar and Pakwan... especially since here you get treated like a brother in Islam, and not kicked out of your table so the owners can make another sale. In one word: Al-Hamdulillah! Posted on March 10, 2005 |

★★★★★ i am fond of good Indian/Pakistani food,so shalimar and pakwan were my usual destination, until recently i went to Dawaat. After eating food there i could make out what i missed at previous restaurant, Quality, taste and Hygeine.Food was excellent, service exemplary.Definetly try lamb chops. This restaurant is worth taking drive,i drove from San Francisco. ★★★★★ Let me share a little story with you... I had not yet found Zabihah.com when I first went to Daawat, so I didn't know how good it was. I was a few doors down, at the Quizno's where my friends were getting sandwiches. I was going to go over and grab a naan at Daawat because I wasn't very hungry, just a snack. It was lightly raining. The two owners were out in front of the store, cleaning the window. I noticed that the restaurant was currently closed (they're closed mid-day between lunch and dinner). They asked if I wanted to wait inside until it opened. I told them I wasn't staying, just wanted to grab a naan as a snack. Then they offered to go inside, start up the whole kitchen and make me a naan... They were going to do ALL that just for a one dollar naan. I was a nobody, I'd only been there once before, not a regular customer (yet). These people are SO nice and SO friendly and the food is AMAZING. You really couldn't hope for anything more. Try the Chicken Boti Kabob, it's amazing. Everything else is good too, that's just my favorite! Posted on December 2, 2004 |

★★★★★ Its the best pakistani food I've had in the Bay area yet. We went to Shalimar first and changed our minds when we saw the lineup and the chaos. We came to Daavat where there were not as many people but the service was friendly and the food was very good. I would go back. Posted on November 30, 2004 |

★★★★★ I'll add another good review for this restaurant. I am a big fan of Indian & Pakistani food and try every restaurant I find. This is the best place I've found in the East Bay! Prompt and friendly service. My only gripe is that they've been out of gulab jamun for each of my last few visits! Posted on November 10, 2004 |

★★★★★ My girlfriend and I recently ate here for the first time. Everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming; the atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was delicious and made with subtle attention to detail. It didn't taste generic in any way. I will definitely be coming back. Food was spicy, but damnit, it should be. The spicyness brings out the flavor and doesn't try to hide it. Lamb biryani, Lamb with spinach, and Chicken korma were excellent. Highly recommend this place! Wonderful people, wonderful service, wonderful food, and reasonable prices. Doesn't get better than that. Posted on October 31, 2004 |

★★★★★ I recently catered food from them, with some reservations that the food may not be that good because the name was not known to me. I was really surprised with the food quality, quantity, taste, and service. Excellent food. Posted on October 28, 2004 |

★★★★★ Easily the best restaurant in the Yay Area. We have tried Shahnawaz, Shalimar, Pakwan, Kabab and Curry, Chutney. Not one of these restaurants can touch this place. Their service and food quality is consistently top notch. Nihari, Biryiani, tikka are some of the dish's we have tried and the quality cannot be matched at some of the "microwave" restaurants that exist in Frisco area. Posted on October 23, 2004 |

★★★★★ I highly recommend this place. The customer service is wonderful as well as the food and pricing. The biryani and haleem come highly recommended. Also try out the mirchi ka salaan. Posted on October 22, 2004 |

★★★★★ The food here is the best among the ones' we have tried so far. we're not afraid to try any new thing because everything turns out very tasty. I would recomend, nihari, biryani, chicken tikka. everything taste good, very nice owner and nice people. JUSTTTT that they have to change the music !!! :))) every time we go there, its just one song playing again and again. I can donate a couple of different Cd's to them ;) Posted on September 23, 2004 |

★★★★★ The food is spicy, but that's the way I like it! I've experienced other Indo/Pakistani restaurants start to cook bland food, that's a no-no in my book. The owner and his staff are very friendly and appreciate my business. Plus, they're open until 10 pm! Posted on September 9, 2004 |

★★★★★ Salaam! We ate at this restaurant couple of days ago and was blown away by their GREAT SERVICE & FOOD. The owner/workers here get it. They know how to treat customers unlike other places. We were asked if everything was okay twice, at the table and when paying the bill at cashier's desk. They honor all our requests during dinning. We order four dishes and everything was EXCELLENT. Thier chicken Tikka (breast) was out of this world-moist and well cooked. Very tasty. Chix biryani was spicy & very flavorful. We had the Seekh Kabab which was delicious. Mmmmm, their naans were Mmmmm. Enough said.
This place is not hectic. It is clean, organized and relaxing. Posted on August 17, 2004 |

★★★★★ Daawat is excellent in south asian food, The best food i ever had in north america. Posted on August 11, 2004 |

★★★★★ I have tried Indo/Pak restaurants all over SF, Berkely and the rest of the Bay Area and I have to say, for the price and the quality of the food, you can't beat this little gem of a restaurant. I and my wife used to be regulars at Shalimar and Pakwaan (we live in Fremont) now we have forgotten when was the last time we went to any of these places. The food at Dawwat is superb( I'm surprised no one has mentioned shammi kabab so far) - neither overly spiced nor bland and you can feel the aroma, the taste and the texture of the food like no other place. Too many Ino-Pak restaurants just spice up their servings to serve the asian pallete but that usually kills the taste - Daawat is an honorable exception. The ambience is very nice too, spotlessly clean restroom and a nice decor - quite a change from other similar restaurants. Can anyone say anything more?
Don't forget to try the shammi kabab, reshmi and the nihari. Posted on August 6, 2004 |

★★★★★ Excellent! Food was very good, and the service too. Very friendly and courteous. They accept credit cards, which is a big advantage over Pakwan & Shalimar. The meat was very tender. Chicken boti was the best. And a big THANKS to whoever recommended the Falooda - it was awesome! Am going back for sure. :) Posted on July 4, 2004 |

★★★★★ Probably the best resutaurant in town. There is no comparison with other restaurants when it comes to taste and the quality of service. The best Naans, reshmi kababs and curries. Falooda is thier speciality which no one else offer. Posted on June 7, 2004 |

Vegeterian dishes are also good, just like back home. Staff is courteous (unlike most other Indian or pakistani restaurants).
I recommend this place over any other Indo-Pak restaurants in bay area. Posted on May 15, 2004 |
