★★★★★ I had dinner here tonight. This place just opened up a few days ago it is a nice smaller restaurant but very clean. I ordered the chicken tikka and two naans. The meal was very delicious and the naans were nice and hot and they were huge. Since the meal was delicious I had no trouble devouring everything. My total was a little over $10. They have hot complimentary chai too. The young fellas working there tonight were very polite and friendly. They both checked up me a couple of times while I was having my meal. I feel like this will be a place I will come to quite often. I'm going to try some other stuff on their menu next time but its hard to steer away from the old time favorite chicken tikka. ★☆☆☆☆ Food quality and taste is not good. Don't be fooled by the name. It is not even close to Shalimar Fremont or even Dublin Shalimar :-)
There was not halal certificate. In fact they don't even have Halal written on their menu and etc. Posted on March 24, 2016 |

★★★★★ I and family go there at least once a week. Since the new ownership food and customer service is great. Before they had a guy named Jonny running it and it went down hill. After the new ownership , we frequently eat there. Quality of food is really good and price is not to high. If you eat halal , this is the place to come since owners are Muslim and fear God. Places that the owners aren't Muslim , your gambling with your meat and quality of food. Posted on October 10, 2015 |

★★★★☆ I have now been the restaurant twice since new ownership and the food is much Breyer than it used to be. The one who owns the tattoo parlor is no longer there. They now have a lunch buffet as we'll. Overall food is not that bad and see vice and quality is definitely better Posted on April 29, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I ate here and it was disgusting. I found hair in my food. The owner lied to me and my friends multiple times. The waitress which is this white girl which also works at the owners tattoo shop was very rude and had an attitude. All around horrible. Please don't go! The owner also owns a tattoo shop and lies about it and claims this is his only halal Muslim business. Just a filthy environment Posted on November 11, 2013 |

★★★★★ Shalimar Tracy is a great addition to the valley. We've eaten there multiple times since it's opening and have not been disappointed. To address some people's complaints that this is not a 'real' Shalimar - I will say that it is a shame it the owners are saying it's affiliated to the other restaurants if it's not, just to gain customers who are loyal to the restaurant chain. I don't know how many times I've visited the other locations and been served food on dirty plates, and received poor and rude 'service', if you can even call it that. Shalimar Tracy gives excellent, attentive service in a clean, family friendly environment. Nice clean dishes and serving ware makes the dining experience like an actual one, instead of plastic chipped plates at the Bay Area chain. That being said, the food is not the same as the SF/Fremont/Dublin locations, but honestly, it is MUCH better. The food is delicious! Our order was taken at the table, and we had appetizers out within 10 minutes. Dinner followed shortly after and was served warm and fresh. The portions are large and the prices are low - a combination you cannot beat. This is the kind of place you would want to bring your family to, but don't have to swallow a huge bill at the end of it all. In response to the poster who made the comment about the owner's Afghan ethnicity - why does it matter? I am so happy to welcome a good, clean Muslim
business into the community. We should welcome them and applaud them for their efforts to provide a hygienic eating environment for the community. If the concern is authenticity of food, who do you think cooks the food at the Bay Area location? We ordered everything but desserts were really delicious! Posted on September 21, 2013 |

NR I do not agree with the above review. I am use to of going to Shalimar in Fremont then Dublin when it was opened. Since I live in Tracy I was so excited when this resturant was open in Tracy. I went ask the owner if it was a branch of original Shalimar from the Bay Area. He lied and said yes it is.
When we ordered food and when food came I knew its not what I thought it was. How can an Afghan make Lahori food or an Pakistani can make Afghani food? It just can not happen. He needs to change his menu to chopan kabab etc not Lahori BBQ or brain masala etc. I will rather drive few miles and have real Pakistani food then eat here and regret.
By Allah nothing against the owner or his nationality I am just against his lie and steeling someone else's name of business. Posted on August 3, 2013 |
