★★☆☆☆ As I am eating I see the owner who comes off as a very devout muslim chugging down a beer in the corner of the restuarant. I'm never going back to this place, how can you trust a place where the owner is drinking in his own "halal" restaurant. Posted on July 6, 2012 |

★★★★★ Fantastic restaurant! A nice change from all the played-out hakka joints around the city. Try their beef/lamb dumplings. Posted on December 26, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Went to this place a few months back and was reluctant to go but at the same time seemed adventurous. As we walked in we saw the decorations that screamed Muslim - so we took a sigh of relief.
We ordered the hand made noodles, garlic beef and a lamb dish. All were excellent. The noodle portion was quite large and we didnt finish most of it. I was scared to try the soup but next time will be trying it inshaAllah. Most dishes are a bit on the expensive side, so I would recommend going there with a large group and ordering for a lower number.
I will definitely return there and right a more detailed review. Heard good things about their oxtail dishes! Posted on June 13, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Food is good but there are no lunch specials. The owner is a muslim and greeted as a muslim. The service is good. The price was moderate. I didn't really like the inside of the restaurant. I think this restaurant is suited for a group atmosphere rather than an individual Posted on November 18, 2009 |

★★★★☆ * Ambiance: good
Brightly lit and clean
Large eat in place
Child friendly (provided kid friendly tableware)
* Service by staff: good
Staff was attentive and courteous
Food was brought in odd order (soup and entree arrived together whereas wings arrived last)
* Food taste: good
Tried shrimps with spicy garlic sauce and it was quite good
Tried chicken fried rice and chicken corn soup which were average
Tried chicken wings but there was no sauce accompanying it
Will definitely go there again. Posted on September 26, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ Went to this restuarant today. The atmosphere is definitely very Islamic. Everything from the outside sign, to the wall decorations to the menu has Islamic touch to it. It is a traditional Chinese place - the taste and choices are different than regular Desi Chinese restuarants. Food is quite tasty, especially lamb skewers, fried lamb dumplings and their pickled spicy beef. The handmade noodles were not that good. Prices were reasonable but not cheap. Portions were OK. The clientele was almost exclusively Chinese.
We were not impressed with the service at all. We were given a paper to write our choices on. We had to wave to the servers several times (it was not busy at all and there were a few of them) to get their attention. It's cash or debit only, and if you pay by debit, it's automatic 10% tip.
I'll probably go for the food again, but not sure if the service would keep me away. Posted on August 6, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I have known this restaurant for years, and I sincerely believe in its halal status today. The owner did serve alcohol a few years back and the atmosphere was a casual muslim chinese family hotspot. However, in the recent years, there's no more booze and several islamic paintings up on the wall. I truly believe there's a genuine change in the company's vision as the customer base was still 90% chinese when I went in to eat. Portions are small, and pricing is fairly high, about $8 per dish (rice and/or noodles are not included in dishes and are separate). Options for large parties such as an entire lamb seem unique and worth the $300 or so. Posted on August 1, 2009 |

★★★★★ I think I found a new favourite Chinese restaurant! This place was screaming "I'm Muslim and proud of it!" They actually has a large business sign that signs "Halal" (we're talking you can see it from two blocks away).
You walk in and he has prayer rugs on the wall. He has pictures of the Kabah and Islamic calligraphy. This guy, Mr. Li, is Muslim and proud of it.
The food is NOT Hakka style, it is NOT Desi Chinese -- it is authentic Chinese food from Northwest China. The food was hot, spicy and flavourful. We (my wife and two young boys) had a great dining experience. We had beef noodle soup. The noodles were hand made (we saw it being made). We had 4 lamb skewers and loved it. We had lamb fried rice, chicken fried rice, spicy beef, spicy chicken and four lamb buns (yes I ordered waaaay too much food!).
The service was excellent. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The owner, Mr. Li, could not speak a word of English but his Salaam and mannerism spoke volumes. It was big, clean and busy and the price was reasonable. The decor was nice and the place had a great atmosphere.
We will definitely go there again. I'm sure that this restaurant will become one of the busiest Halal Chinese restaurants in Toronto -- enjoy! Posted on May 25, 2009 |

★★★★★ Delicious menu, lots of variety, HALAL DUMPLINGS either with beef or lamb.
Sweet and sour chicken/beef is the best in town, lots of complimentary green tea served with meal.
You can explore the menu and never pick anything wrong, err except for the lung, tongue, or liver options...
They make whats called a lamb pancake. Delicious. 'Nuff Said. Posted on March 18, 2009 |

★★★★★ I have visited Chinese Beef and Lamb House and was pleased to see right at the entrance to the restaurant was the notice of where the halal meat is purchased and signs indicating that the owner was Muslim. The food was fantastic, large portions, reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed the BBQ Lamb, lamb dumplings, hot and sour soup, green beans and beef pancake. ★★★★★ My wife and are are on a road trip and are visiting Toronto now. We decided to try this place because it was close to the hotel we staying at, and we are definently glad we did. The food is some of the best chinese food i have had in the US and Can. there are Halal signs and islamic art all over the place and the owner is muslim and a very nice guy. He speaks absolutly no english tho, the server was translating. he is from the northern muslim province of Ching hi he said. Service 10/10, Food 10/10. the portions are HUGE and prices are very fair. I would recommend this place to both muslim and non. Posted on August 26, 2008 |
