★★★☆☆ food is good, but i heard from two familys in stamford mosque, that food is not halal ,and after i find out the owner is not muslim, and they serve beer at the new location in down town, all this makes us uncomfortable eating there plus the mosque orderd food for eed party from another place in norwalk it was very good and halal Posted on December 17, 2009 |

★★★★★ Not sure how the poster below (hanif-onlyhalal) has this information. I haven't checked out the downtown restaurant, but this one serves no alcohol. I also had the lamb schawarma and it was indeed lamb (yes, I can tell the difference). In fact, the so-called "Arabic Schawarma" that they serve is one of the best I've had in North America, masha'Allah.
Not sure about the owner not being Muslim - that is possible. Most of the employees aren't. The meat is halal, though I haven't asked for the certificate. However, when I visited this place last year, I was told only the chicken is halal (and the manager rebuked an employee for not remembering which meat is halal). On a more recent visit, I was told everything is halal. I don't think that if they were lying, they would first just say chicken and then say it's everything. However, I will ask for a certificate next time I visit, insha'Allah. Posted on December 15, 2009 |
