★★☆☆☆ Chinese lady taking food orders Posted on May 27, 2016 |
|
|
★☆☆☆☆ My previous review of this place was a good one but I have edited it due to a recent experience...
We used to order food from here quite often. However, the last time my sister placed an order she tried to use a coupon that was mailed out to us. The lady taking the order went off on a tirade on how we always use coupons when paying using a credit card even though she's asked us not to so my sister ended the call. The lady apparently thought my sister was someone else and called back and continued yelling at her. My sister got her to understand that she wasn't whoever she was mistaking her for and placed an order and picked it up. Who in the world runs a restaurant and chews out a customer and calls them back to continue their tirade? I don't plan on ever ordering from here again. Posted on June 10, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ Worst place, experience and treatment. I found them on the internet and was deceived by some of the few good but obviously fake reviews. The place was extremely shabby. The two or three cramed tables were greasy dirty. I decided I wasn't going to dine in, so I settled for takeaway. The lady at the register turned out to be the owner. Specials on their menu are only decor, and the lady would do anything within her reach to avoid you taking advantage of them. Credit card is only accepted if you reach some absurd $20, and with a bitter grudge. Mention Amex only at your own risk. She told me Amex charges them a lot per transaction. But she immediately backed off and took the card when I said I was about to cancel my order and walk. Flat out Chinatown/flee market haggling! When ready, I picked the food and was about to leave when I realized they included no plastic utensils or napkins, and none were available in the micro seating area or on the tables. I had a big order for several people, but when I asked for napkins and plastic wear I was literally given an exact count of two napkins while still omitting spoons, knive and forks. Upon asking for those (felt I was nagging rather), I was rudely told by the owner to wait till she was done with the customer at the register! I was then given only two spoons, but nothing else, and was told I had to pay if I needed the necessary plastic wear and napkins. It took me some loud expressions of frustration in order to get what I, before that night, never thought of as a hard earned priviledge. As a family we always try each other's dishes for a more holistic experience. Spicy dishes were ennundated with chilly pepper that masked the not too fresh taste of meat that was so clear in non-spicy orders. Portions were scanty for the price. Terrible overall experience. Blacklisted not to ever go to in my future visits to DC. Avoid at all cost. Posted on August 15, 2014 |

★★★★★ This is one of the best hunan beef I have ever had.
They delivered in the snow and it was totally worth it!
So fresh!! So good! Posted on March 3, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Great tasty Halal Chinese. Usually order Kung Pao chicken or beef. Szechuan beef works too. Mostly take out order & seating is limited & small area. Plus serving size is larger for take out compare to eat in. Prices are always going up each time I pick up my order. Remember to mention
special discount for orders over $10, $15, $20, $25, $30. Better choice the higher your bill. Posted on June 10, 2013 |

★★★★☆ I have to change my previous review for this place. It's actually really good, they've definitely made improvements and I'd say it's the best halal chinese in the area now. There's very little space to eat, so takeout may be a better option, but the food is tasty and fresh. Their lunch specials are a good bargain too. I'm a big fan of General Tso's chicken, and they do it very well. I wasn't a fan of their Thai dishes before, I think their Chinese menu is much, much better, so I'd recommend sticking to that when ordering. Posted on May 23, 2013 |

★★★★★ I have only tried the General Tso's chicken here and it is awesome. The chicken is the perfect amount of sweet, spicy and crispy. Posted on January 31, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Asian Rice was a decent, average hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in Springfield. The food is all halal and the service is decent. We went for a late lunch and thought it was pretty good. I wouldn't really go out of the way to visit this place as it doesn't have a great seating area and I wasn't amazed. However, if i lived in the area i could see myself ordering take-out. ★★★★★ This place is awesome. They have the best and fresh halal chinese food in the area. I disagree with the previous two reviewers about seating area as this place is advertised mainly as a carry out place. This is not a place for fine dining. General Tso chicken, schezuan chicken, beef lomein, and fried rice are really tasty. They use fresh vegetables and halal meat. Recently I ordered for a big party and they delivered my food for just 5 dollars. It is amazing as I live 10 miles from the restaurant and other places charge atleast 50 bucks for delivery. they also gave us free appetizers (30 crab rangoons ). I will highly recommend this place. If you like thai food please do try their panang or red curry. General Tso is always the most popular. Posted on August 23, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Food was prepared very promptly and tasted delicious. Lunch menu is well-priced $5.95 for an entree, rice, and a spring roll. I ordered the pepper steak and it was very flavorful. Posted on June 1, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ Left after asking some questions. The employees working there are from southeast of China and are not muslim. They don't even know what is Halal. Halal means no pork for them. Don't recommend to go. Posted on May 31, 2012 |

★★★★★ Fresh vegetables and tasty food. General Tso chicken, panang curry, fried rice and beef lomein are the best dishes. Great alternative to mandarin chinese. I wish they have good seating arrangement. Posted on April 12, 2012 |

★★★★★ I live not too far from this restaurant and I feel good knowing that the best halal Chinese restaurant is a stone's throw away from my place. Posted on March 9, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I called the other day and asked if their sauces contained red wine or white wine and the lady said red wine. Halal places should not contain any wine at all. It makes one question whether their soy sauce contain alcohol also. Posted on February 20, 2012 |

★★★★☆ This place is pretty good. nice alternative to Mandarin Islamic Chinese restaurant less than a mile away. Try the general Tsao's chicken, the egg drop soup and the thai curry dishes (yes, they serve chinese and thai dishes). The only knock on this place is that seating is extremely limited and food is served in paper plates. You have to keep asking for napkins, hot sauce, forks and spoons. Kind of a drag when you go out to eat and expect a relaxing dining experience with full service. Don't expect that here--it is more of a self service kind of a place. The food is genuinely tasty though. I recommend. Posted on December 4, 2011 |
