★★★★★ By far the best shawarma available in the bay area!
Being from the Shawarma Capitol of North America (Ontario, Canada) I've been in search of a place that could fulfill my garlic and rotisserie cravings for over 14 years. Finally found it at Albayk! And let me tell you everything is Albayk here:)
for some reason the bay area middle eastern restaurants tend to make a liquidy garlic sauce but the real deal is a thick mayonnaise paste which you can get here in their shawarma wrap sandwich served on an authentic pita bread not lavash.
All of my fellow Canadians in search of a decent Shawarma sandwich or platter need to check this out!
The owner Jamal is very personable and friendly (so is the rest of the staff) everything is Zabihah vernal confirmation from owner and numerous halal signs posted.
Prices are perfect for the large portions they offer. Platters around $10.99-13.99
Sandwich around $7-10
BTW the meat had tons of flavor. . No hot sauce needed!
Make sure you ask for the garlic sauce. Doesn't come without asking in the platter but it is included in the sandwich.
Platters served with a traditional salad, yellow rice, hummus, pita, pickles/onions/cucumber mix.

★★★☆☆ I read the reviews and tried my first chicken shawarma. It was tasteless I just tasted crushed black peppers. I think the chef who makes the shawarma needs to visit some Lebanese restaurant to taste the real shawarma. The ambiance was very good and the cashier pleasing. I would return to try something else though.. Posted on September 25, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Delicious! I have never seen my husband eat the food off his plate so fast. He had the chicken kabab plate and I had chicken shawarma plate. It comes with meat, yellow rice, salad (that is one of the best I have had at a Mediterranean restaurant) diced cucumbers, onions, traditional grilled tomatoes, pickles, hummus and pita bread.
We eat this kind of food all the time and while I prefer white rice over yellow, the food was flavorful and looked incredible. When I commented to the proprietor that the food looked so beautiful, he told me the taste is more important. Agreed and the taste is delicious :) He also brought us over hot sauce, it was good, but the food stands on its own.
Halal is written in Arabic on the flier, the menu and the proprietor himself told us he catered both for Masjid Ul Haqq in San Mateo and for Yaseen Foundation in Belmont during Ramadan. Posted on September 6, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I really like their Tabbouleh.. its addictive. Chicken Shawarmas are delicious. The mixed shawarma is good, but not my personal fave. Hummus is good too.
Very clean and very friendly attentive staff. If you want something just ask, hot sauce, sumac, whatever. :D Posted on March 15, 2012 |
