★★★★★ Awesome food. Was visiting from Houston and had an amazing food experience. First night had the beef jalfrezi, out of this world! Visited back after 5 days and had their buffet. Amazing and the jalfrezi was not on buffet, but they were accommodating and brought it to our table and included as part of buffet. Great tasting chai to finish the meal. Would recommend it to everyone. The best Pakistani food I had in San Francisco. Posted on August 23, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ I trIed their mango lasiCanaan, chicken jalfrezi, it had too much salt to it.
Chai was good. Clean place, a lot of non desi were eating at this place. Posted on April 15, 2015 |

★★★★☆ We went to Shalimar our first dinner however when we came here we found it way better than Shalimar. Specially their chicken Haleem is very good. After meal I went and complemented chef who himself acknowledged that Shalimar was #1 but 4-5 years ago, in fact he himself has taken some items from them and have bettered it. All in all a good fare Posted on December 25, 2014 |

NR I loved their lunch buffet food, lots of item and taste was good. Posted on November 5, 2013 |

★★★★★ What can I say, I love the aroma of fresh naan and tandoori on a cold San Francisco day.
I love shopping in Union Square, only to trek out to this place, following the mouth watering aroma.
I love the buffet.
And I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on their halal authenticity, even if the guy at the cash asked me "woh kaun (translation: Who is that?)" when I asked him "iftar hai? (translation: Is there iftar here?)" Posted on September 18, 2013 |

★★★★☆ I had pretty much everything from the buffet selection and it was all pretty darn good. Sure you can get better pakistani food, but this was good for being an all you can eat buffet place. The naan was fresh, soft, and really good when I went. The tandoori chicken pieces were a bit small, but the tikka masala chicken along with all the other curries was really good. It's also cool that they're open so late. Posted on March 26, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Ordered for 10 people.
Pros:
Open late.
Will find place any time you go.
Good service.
Cons:
Low quality food. Not up to the expected taste. Bread over cooked black. Biryani - microwaved plain rice with chicken korma. Posted on November 24, 2012 |

★★★★★ Food is amazing 90% of the time!
Chicken breast is awesome
Elderly management during off peak hours really sucks!
Quite rude to be honest
Otherwise usually a pleasant experience with great food Posted on August 27, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ This has to be the worst of the Naan N' Curry chain in SF. If you are this close to the tenderloin walk two more blocks and you can get better food. Of course if you're hungry at 3am, this will be your only 24 hour option. Posted on June 22, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Tried it yesterday as it's right across from Hilton. Food was good and worth coming back for. Service was polite too. Posted on December 8, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Good food but bad service. A worth while visit if you're looking for some tasty Indian food. Posted on September 19, 2010 |

★★★★★ This place is great! I love that it's open 24 hours a day! Parking is really a nightmare, though since it is in downtown San Francisco. I really enjoyed the veggie dishes, and the atmosphere was fun. It was a fun night on the town at this place! I would definitely recommend to others! Posted on September 7, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant managed by such unprofessional, bad-mannered people. The food was ok I guess, but there are TONS of better halal Pakistani restaurants in the area. I'm not one to make a big deal out of customer service, but these guys were ruthlessly disrespectful. For instance, yelling back and forth across the restaurant in Urdu and making incendiary comments about non-Pakistanis who are eating at your restaurant is downright uncivilized. I absolutely would not recommend this place. What an embarassment. Posted on July 14, 2010 |

★★☆☆☆ I got the address from zabihah iphone program, I read the reviews before going to the restaurant. I went at 4 pm. Halal sign on the outside. close to union square. other than that the waiter was dancing on the indian music all the time even when he was talking on the phone or waiting for the requests. Tendouri lamb chops was burned, Tendouri chicken was good. the bathroom was dirty and shared with multiple shops and the parking lot behind the building. I wouldnt go again in the future. ★★★★☆ If you like buffet, this is the place to be. Though they also do a-la-carte, but their buffet is the most popular. Food is not sensational, but quite good enough. Nice neighbourhood, near downtown attractions. If you come during rush hours, be prepared to wait for a table to become available. Seems quite busy with both immigrants and American patrons. Good variety of food. Posted on March 23, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ i went to eat dinner buffet and everything was cold.I could have given it POOR rating but have not becuase of what happened after that.I went to the guy at counter and he apologized for cold food and offered us a la carte without any extra charges, that was fresh and tasted far better.
Not a clean place to dine-in and food prepared is not really worth it to carry out.Dinner ware was also not clean.
May be suitable for those who need to eat late night and donot have other options. Posted on October 24, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Have had horrible experiences here. Not just because it is all self-service, but because the management and employees are extremely rude and have no concept of customer service. They often screw up orders and try to refuse to fix them. Service is slow and they give you dirty looks when you make a request. They also stare at when you are close to finishing to give you the hint to leave immediately upon finishing. I would not recommend this place. Posted on July 27, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ Ate here on my last trip to SF. Had a simple take away order of chicken tikka (not curry) and naan. Both were pretty good, but nothing great. Brother at the counter is short, but tries hard with non-desi, non-Muslim customers. Prices are low, service is extremely slow -- if you eat in you have to get your own cutlery, water, cups, everything. Their waiters only bring the meal. Posted on May 5, 2007 |

★★☆☆☆ We bypassed chutney & shalimar to go to this place. The chicken karahi was the worst I've ever had. Chicken seekh kabab tasted awful. Chicken tikka was strictly Okay. I don't recommend this place, especially when you have chutney, shalimar & pakwan nearby. Posted on September 8, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ We visited at 1am. I previously had a bad experience at another Naan N'Curry and was reluctant to visit another, but everything else was closed. I should have followed my gut feeling. I ordered vegetable tikka masala and chicken tikka masala, and they were both different colors. The veggie dish was tandoori red, and I think I know why...It was old! It was a mix of veggies that were obviously sitting in sauce for hours (VERY soft!) along with a newly cooked potato. The chicken dish appeared to be fresh, and it had a much lighter color. In addition, I found the counter person to have no personality whatsover, and the tea dispenser was empty...Judging by all the single cups sitting on the table (people adding sugar first, then discovering there's no tea), I think it had been empty for quite some time. I've had it with this chain. There's much better food to be found in this city with less hassle. At least I can say I've given them a fair chance, but they seem to disappoint virtually every time. ★★★★☆ Excellent food and prices, however we were seated and weren't notified that we had to order and retrieve our plates etc ourselves. Knowing this ahead of time helps when ur starving. Posted on January 6, 2005 |

★★★☆☆ The food is pretty good--but the nanns are ENORMOUS, which of course they failed to tell us so when 5 giant naans arrived for 3 people we were aghast. The least they could have done was let u sknow so we could have ordered less. The restaurant was smoky from the cooking & the music was overly loud so although the food wasn't bad, we haven't been back since. Posted on July 26, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ One of my friend recommend this restaurant. Food was reasonably cheap. There dall (lentil) was good. The quantity was also very good. But the only thing I dont like about this restaurant was Rats and Filth. Posted on January 21, 2004 |

★☆☆☆☆ I will dine this restaurant if and only if I dont know about any of the taste of a Curry. I was really disappointed from there food. Instead the food of Shalimar or Shan is much better than Naan 'N' Curry. Posted on January 19, 2004 |

★★★★☆ Good Halal Pakistani Food - fresh and tasty... As clean as you would expect a restaurant in Pakistan to be like.. Is a self serve - get your own water, untensils, Chai. Narrow space, but good atmosphere with pak / indian / persian dicor. Posted on January 12, 2004 |

★★★★★ The chicken tikka masala is unbelievably delicious!!! I've had it many times and it's always amazing. The naan is also soft and yummy. So cheap too! Posted on December 5, 2003 |

★★☆☆☆ the food was better then what i was expecting from looking at the place (filthy on jones) but it was sooooo hot, i couldnt even finish my chicken boti because i started hiccuping! and im indian and i eat spicy food...and the chicken tikka masala, the cook mistakenly put double cream in it! yuck! the palak was good though. ★★★★★ "Naan and Curry is an excellent experience for anyone craving Pakistani Food. The spices are blended perfectly, as well as the food being non-greasy. The atmosphere is not as greasy as the other reviews seem to say. It is actually kind of cute. Very competetive with a real ""hotel"" somewhere in Pakistan. I tried the Chiken tikka masala, and it was extremely well prepared. Its the kind of thing one cant get enough of. the Gobi-aloo, and channa's were good as well. It tends to be on the spicy side, but not over-spiced. Its conveniently located just down the street from Macy's too." Posted on August 2, 2002 |

★★★★☆ "It is generally believed that ambiance of a restaurant is inversely proportional to the taste of the food it serves. This is more applicable for 'desi' restaurants where ""untidiness is next to goodness"" in taste and loud music hints at successful business. Nowhere is this truer than at ""Naan 'N' Curry"". ""Naan 'N' Curry"" is of the same class as that of ""Shalimar"" and is also located in the same vicinity just across ""Shalimar Garden"". But the food is even better than that of either (and consequently it is dirtier than ""Shalimar""). They served us outstandingly delicious 'Naan' and the best 'desi-style' lamb chops in the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Albeit their 'Biryani' was not very good. All in all, this restaurant served us fabulous meal. Ambiance? Aesthetics? Tidiness? Their name is ""Naan 'N' Curry"" and that is what they promise! Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this place. ""Naan 'N' Curry"" is yet another proof that the looks of a restaurant are inversely proportional to the quality of food. Just plan and pray so that you don't have to use their restroom."
