NR Guys! I am Turkish and telling you A la Turca is not Zabihah!!! I never eat there. Posted on August 3, 2013 |
Though we have confirmation directly from the owner, we will reinvestigate... |

★★★★☆ Pretty good food. The pides are a nice tasty lunch. Nothing spectacular, but decent Turkish food. Check it out. Posted on July 6, 2013 |

NR I called them yesterday to confirm if meat is Halal and I was told 'Yes' meat is Halal but they buy their meat from Restaurant Depot and person on the phone was not sure if chickens were hand-slaughtered or machine slaughered. Posted on November 10, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ Definetly not zabihah! I just asked the staff two days ago! He was very rude and told me that there is no way to buy zabihah meat in San Francisco. They are buying the meat from where "everyone" buys the meat. You can imagine what that means. I went there because this website said that it was zabihah. You should delete this restaurant from your list. Posted on April 13, 2011 |
Thank you for letting us know - we are confirming... |

★★★★☆ This place actually serves authentic Turkish food! I've found it pretty hard to find authenticity in most Turkish restaurants since some say they are Turkish, but end up being generic mediterranean. I ordered the Iskendar Kebab (doner kebab prepared from thinly cut grilled lamb or beef basted with tomato sauce over pieces of pide bread and generously slathered with melted butter and yogurt). You can only get this at Turkish restaurants! It was delicious, as was the chicken and mushroom pide. My husband ordered the Combo platter which was just as good. The Ezme could have been better though as I felt it was a little watered down. Would definately go back. Cute restaurant, nice ambience, attentive and prompt service. Go earlier in the day though as there can be gangs hanging around the area after dark. Posted on May 31, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Reasonably priced good tasting meals. Staff and owner verbal assurance all meats are halal, asked at different times. Clean restaurant, clean restrooms, friendly staff. Posted on April 5, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ Cross this restaurant off your halal list. Verbal confirmation from the staff that only a fraction of their meat is halal and most of the meat is NOT ZABIHAH. They also said that there is no way to know which food is prepared with halal meat as they are all mixed up in the kitchen. Posted on November 20, 2006 |

★★★★★ We've eaten here for about two years. Even though chef has moved to Bosphorus in Berkeley (also good and a buffet), the food and service at A la Turca is still great. Home made bread. We get a platter of samples of each! Home made baklava too. Often full of Turks enjoying a good meal! You will not be disappointed! Posted on November 8, 2006 |

★★★★★ This is the best Turkish food I have tasted in Bay Area. They have wonderful bread and variety of Turkish-stype pizza (pide), along with good gyro and kabobs. Posted on August 31, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ This place has been through several format changes over the years, be it Indian or Turkish. I assume there's been different owners too.
One thing that's always remained consistant is that they use a picture of an Italian pizza guy on their menu. I could never figure this out... Posted on August 9, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ Although it is not indicated in the coding for this restaurant, they do serve alcohol. When we saw the bottles of wine and beer, we left. How can we eat zabiha in a restaurant serving haram ALCOHOL? Posted on August 6, 2004 |

★★★★★ Although it is not decorated as a full featured restaurant, rather like a cafe, they have a wide variety of dishes. I have been a loyal customer to this restaurant for more than a year. I tried almost all of menu items and liked all of them. Iskender Kabob, beyti kabob, lamb and cheese pide as entrees, and kunefe and kazandibi as deserts were wonderful. Their appetizers were also great (especially homemade sigara borek and cacik). The owners were friendly. The price was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. I would definitely recommend to give it a try. Posted on June 30, 2004 |
